Sesame Street Birthday Party!

Remember Courtney? My sweet little Cupcake, who I used to blog about a lot!? Well would you believe SHE TURNED TWO ON FEBRUARY 4th?! How is it even possible that she's two already? Remember this? :-) Time is just speeding by at an alarming rate for me lately! But since it won't do me a favor and slow down, Courtney did indeed have a birthday, and we threw her a party to celebrate last weekend!I decided to go with a Sesame Street birthday party theme, mostly because I had seen cards similar to --> THIS ONE <-- way back before she was even born and decided that if I ever had kids, one of them needed a Sesame Street party just so I could make an invitation that looked like this! HAHAHASearching online for party ideas, I stumbled upon --> THESE <--Cookie Monster cupcakes and squealed so loud it was probably heard in the next county. So, I had to make my own version of those, too! I decided to mix it up a bit and add some Elmos!I had a craft for the kids to make - foam Elmo "puppets" on popsicle sticks, with the scalloped circle head cut out with my Nesties, and googly eyes, pompom noses and more fun foam for the mouths.I was pondering on Twitter what game to have for the kids to play, and my friend @paperbatty suggested having them toss a clothespin into a paper sack. I wanted it to fit the Sesame Street theme and finally it dawned on me - make the sacks be little garbage cans, and have them toss Oscar into the cans! YAY! My extremely talented mom helped with the painting on these. She even added Slimey the Worm on Oscar's side! :-)Of course I had some goodies to send home with the kids - homemade chocolate chip cookies that Cookie Monster himself would love! (the moms at the party, not completely thrilled that I was sending home even more sugar with their kids, hee hee)And just a couple other details - I had said on the invitation that the party was being brought to us by the letter C (for Courtney) and the number 2 (for her age) - so I used cookie cutters on some of the cheese to reflect that. And another snack at the party - mini sandwiches, which I cut out into shapes with cookie cutters - seemed more Sesame Street-y to have them in various shapes. :-)Courtney loved her party, and the rest of the kids seemed to enjoy it too. Now I get to rest until Carter's next birthday... which isn't until December. *whew* Thanks for stopping by today!

I know I'm late, but...

I thought I'd share what we made at my February card class, even though Valentine's Day was so last weekend! hee hee It's crazy how long it takes me to get cards photographed and posted, geesh - these have been sitting at my desk for ages! But better late than never... right?? :-)

So... since this was for a class, I attempted to keep them somewhat quick and simple. This first card was inspired by a card and video Jennifer McGuire posted on the Hero Arts blog. It uses the emboss resist technique - love the look! You can find Jennifer's instructions HERE. I just changed it up to look Valentiney, although this could easily be used for other occasions as well. And what do you think, did I successfully create a red & green card that doesn't look too Christmasy?? :-)For this card I used a cute Hero Arts cupcake, but I didn't want the stripes & sprinkles on the stamp to show, so we stamped it on the backside of the paper, cut it out and flipper it over. And added lots of yummy glitter! And finally, some lovey-dovey owls - so sweet. With a different sentiment this one could easily be an anniversary card, or even for a wedding. We used my old friends - my Prisma pencils - to color this one. My card class girls squealed about the little safety pin holding the heart.I know the polka dot background is kinda crazy in these photos - thought about reshooting them with a calmer background, but considering how long it's taken me to post as it is, I decided to just go with it! Thanks for stopping by - hopefully I'll be back this weekend with all the goodies I made for Courtney's birthday part last weekend.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope you all have enjoyed your Valentine's Day! To be honest, I didn't. My hubby had to leave early this morning on a business trip, and I spent most of last night and today taking care of my sick son Carter. Although I do have to admit, getting to spend most of the last 24 hours cuddling with my sweet boy wasn't all bad! But it did break my heart to hear him cry about a tummy ache and feel so hot with fever. He seems like he's doing much better now though - hopefully he'll get a good night's sleep tonight and be back to himself tomorrow. And thankfully my wonderful sister and mom came over today to help out, and my mom is actually spending the night as well, in case things take another turn for the worse tonight...

Thank you for the sweet comments after yesterday's post, how nice to hear from some of you that you missed me! xoxo Yesterday I shared the Valentines I made for Courtney's class - here are the ones for Carter:I used a cute little robot image I won on one of Hambo Stamp's One & Done auctions. They do these auctions every Thursday - post a digital image and whoever has the highest bid in the comments wins. Since I won this robot, I am the only stamper in the entire world who will ever get to play with this cute image. How cool is that!?? I can't wait to see what Tim's drawn up for this week's auction - make sure and tune into their blog and try to outbid me! :) I colored the robot with my Prismacolor pencils & odorless mineral spirits, and added a cute little "screw" brad I bought from Gina K's store. The message is from Hero Arts.

Ok I'm off to sleep, I'm exhausted! Here's hoping no little pumpkins wake up in the night tonight. Thanks for stopping by!

Stella's Got Her Groove Back!

Or should I say, LIBBY'S got her STAMPING groove back! Well, at least I hope she does. :-) I miss stamping and blogging, so I'm going to try to get back in the swing of it - not daily posts, but not just one card per month either. Something in between. LOL!

The first thing I'd like to share to kick off My Official Return to Blogging are these sweet Valentine's I made for Courtney's class. Yes, I spent wayyyyy too much time making cards for two year olds, which probably went directly into the trash. But oh well, it was fun! This image is from the Pure Innocence line by Heather Ellis. Some of you may recognize this sweet little girl from MFT stamps - but this particular one is a digi image from Heather's Etsy shop HERE. I just adore her!! I colored her in with my Copics, and added some Stickles to the heart. The message is from Hero Arts.

Hooray for stamping!! Thanks for stopping by - I don't actually know if anyone even stops by anymore, we shall see... :-)
