I {heart} Kristina Werner!

Thanks for the nice comments yesterday - no more whining today, I promise! All the yuckiness is behind me and I've been stamping like mad, so life is GOOD. :-) Yesterday I even got caught up on my "blurfing", which makes me very happy - no unread posts in my Reader. Oops, check that - now there are 2. Well that's still better than 800+! :-) So one of the posts I read yesterday that I *LOVED* and had to try *IMMEDIATELY* was on Kristina Werner's blog. Have you all visited her?? Her cards are always flawless, and she makes super fun videos to show her techniques! Well yesterday she showed how to make this super cute ribbon flower, which was inspired by her shower curtain!! I just love it. I used my SU taffeta ribbon (first time breaking into it!) which is soooo pretty. The spacing of my flower didn't turn out perfect, but it still makes me happy. And I copied Kristina's other idea of doing the pierced swirls trailing the flower as well. I decided to go with a really simple layout for this card, so as not to detract from the flower, because you know, sometimes LESS is more. (Sorry Jami!) And IRL the brads to the right don't look as poorly spaced as they do in the picture. :-) This is an anniversary card that's going in the mail today, for my parents, who live in Michigan, and who's anniversary is TOMORROW. No, it will not arrive on time. But at least I'm sending a card! I haven't done great with keeping up with my calendar over the past week - the card I posted yesterday was for a friend's birthday last Thursday, and I gave it to her last night. But at least I'm giving people cards!! I have a to-do list I'm trying to complete before Cupcake arrives - getting all the cards for birthdays & events through February done. Wish me luck! And I'm also doing something revolutionary (for me) - I'm going through my card stash and MAILING THEM! I have a long list of people I want to send RAKs to, but I always feel I need to create the PERFECT card for them - but I'm trying to let that feeling go. I was already trying to do that, and then I was further inspired by this great post from Julee! Plus, you know what - I've made some pretty darn cool cards over the past year!!! IF I DO SAY SO MYSELF! :-) Ok - I need to get this posted and head down to the post office - and then come back and CLEAN MY STAMP ROOM which has somehow exploded on me once again. I am definitely one of those messy creative types. And then hopefully a little stamping time will remain before Carter gets home from preschool to also start prepping for a girl's cardmaking night I'm hosting on Thursday! Have a great day everyone!!

  7. What a cool technique to try! In the close up your brads don't look off at all. I love the simplicity of the design. What fun!
