My Ireland Scrapbook

Last night I put the finishing touches on my Ireland scrapbook, so I thought I'd share it with you. This is my first time trying to post one of these little slideshows, we'll see if I did it right...

This shows you how behind I am on my scrapbooks! We took a trip to Ireland in September 2005, when I was ~6 months pregnant with Carter. Back when we were "dinks" (dual income, no kids!) we very much enjoyed traveling in Europe. We figured that was coming to a screeching hault so we went on this One Last Trip. We chose Ireland because it would be a fairly laid-back trip, driving around the (BEAUTIFUL) countryside - easier for a pregnant gal. We had a WONDERFUL time - Ireland is such a gorgeous country!

For this scrapbook I laid down some "ground rules" - something I never usually do! My guidebook (Rick Steves - we've followed Rick's advice on every trip to Europe and he's never let us down!) said that Ireland is "40 shades of green". I decided to go with that for my scrapbook - it's all green!!!! I collected way too many Ireland-themed embellishments before I got around to actually doing this scrapbook (the danger for me in waiting so long!) so another rule was that I had to use SOMETHING on every page - a shamrock, a leprechaun, etc. Sort of over-the-top-cheesey Ireland, but oh well. :-) The final rule was that I could not mat any photos. That is a hard one for me - but I will admit it made this come together much faster than my usual scrapbooks! Which is a funny thing to say, because I started this book back in May...!! But, I've only spent a handful of days actually working on this thing (I've been more focused on cards than scrapbooking in recent months!) so if I look at it that way, it's probably the fastest scrapbook I've ever done!

Anyway... it's nothing earth-shattering - I am not the kind of scrapper you will ever see in the pages of Creating Keepsakes - but I have fun doing it, and that's all that matters. Thanks for stopping by today! Hope this slideshow actually shows up once I hit post! :-) (ETA: It did work, woohoo! I also found out that if you hit the "view all images" button, it will take you to a larger view of all the photos - in case you want to get up close and personal with my vacation... :-) )

7/27/12 update - I just learned that my slide show is now broken, slide.com closed their website - I will try to fix this link to something that works asap!

PS... And now my Shameless Plug... I have a LOT of Ireland embellishments, ribbons & paper left over. Is anyone else out there working on an Ireland scrapbook? Or are you nuts about St. Patty's Day? I plan to put my leftovers on eBay, but if you want dibs on it, send me an email (stampinlibby@gmail.com) and I'll send you a list/photo of what I have and you can make me an offer!
(ETA: The items are no longer available! :-) )

  5. I'd love to see it but my browser (just plain old IE) never lets me look at these things and I can't for the life of me figure out how to change it. I can't view any of the U-Tube videos, either. I have all the updated everything and ever since I updated IE I can't see anything! So frustrating! Boo hoo!

  6. This is a wonderful scrapbook!! I just realized that I looked at it a couple of days ago, and didn't leave a comment, (how rude)!

All of your pictures are gorgeous, and I think you did a wonderful job with layouts, and the whole thing.

  7. Dang it! First you enabled me re: the Janome, now you're making me feel guilty because I still haven't scrapbooked our trip to Ireland... from Nov. 2001!!! I'll have to come back to look at it, but it will be weighing heavy on my mind.

And what's that Duran Duran thingy I see in the photo with the Janome box? Enquiring minds want to know! Don't tell me that you're horning in on John Taylor the way you have on Thomas Jefferson, or things just might get UGLY!!! I'm not above coming to blows with a pregnant woman, either, sister... Okay. Maybe I am. But still! :)

  10. Libby~

Your scrapbook is absolutely beautiful! I am currently working on my own Ireland scrapbook after living there (in Cork) for 5 months. I recognized many of the same places I visited on holiday! I love how you kept a very green theme with traditional symbols, without seeming cliched. You've inspired me to take my time and really plan my layouts. GREAT work, you should be very proud of this. :)

  11. Just went to Ireland and your book helped me plan my trip! How did you get the picture in the library of the Book of kells building?? They made me delete pics I took :( I know that this is a lot to ask but would you be willing to send me the picture you took in the library? I would be so grateful. If you can my email address is jpeco78@gmail.com
