A nice weekend...

If anyone is curious - yes, I'm still pregnant. :-) Cupcake did not make her appearance this weekend. But I did have a nice weekend, so I thought I'd tell you a little about it! I haven't had a chance to stamp, but I hope to do a little of that after I post this. First of all - you may remember that I spent last Saturday in bed, suffering through a stomach virus of some sort. I had to miss a brunch with friends, and I was soooo sad about that. Well lucky me - most of them were able to come to the rescheduled brunch yesterday!! It was really nice to see everyone. This first photo is me and my friend Theresa (who is also pregnant btw, due in April!) - she is the most talented scrapbooker I know (!) and she made me this amazing family tree to hang in Baby Girl's nursery!! It's all BasicGrey paper, which of course I LOVE - and the little birds are just adorable!! She emailed me a file to print out little labels to put on the birds, with the names of our family. She found this idea in a magazine - I'm so thrilled that she took the time to reproduce it for me!! She said there will be one in her baby's nursery as well. :-) The next photo is me and my sister Laura - you may notice her in my comments a lot, she's one of my (few) faithful commenters! She's really the best sister a girl could have, I don't know what I'd do without her living here in Austin! She helps me sooooo much with Carter! And btw - no way I would have survived all of Joel's travels this fall without her! I thought the picture turned out cute (I am frankly shocked that I don't look hideous in the photos, considering how huge I actually am!). Today was a nice day too - our little family of 3 (not much longer!) headed over to the Austin Zoo, a sweet little rescue zoo we have here in Austin. Carter LOVED it, he loves it more and more every time we go, and today he really had a ton of fun. He got to feed some deer, which I think was a highlight for him - and he also really loved looking at all the big cats, especially the tigers. (side note: I said it's a rescue zoo - they have four Bengal tigers, one rescued from an Arkansas junkyard where it was in a small cage being a "guard tiger" (!), one was in a traveling religious show, one was owned by a drug dealer, and one was somebody's pet. Why anyone would think it would be a good idea to have a TIGER as a PET I really cannot understand....) Finally, this afternoon, I spent a little time "getting to know" my NEW COPICS!!!! Yes, that is the big purchase I mentioned the other day (you guessed it, Katie!!). I'm hoping to actually attempt to color a stamped image later tonight after I post this. I'm a little nervous, everyone says there's quite a learning curve on them! I also spent some time earlier rereading several Copic tutorials I had bookmarked! They are just sooooo pretty though, they make me so happy!! :-) So that was my weekend - perhaps my last weekend without a new baby? It was nice and relaxing - just perfect, really! Hope you all had a nice weekend too!!

  3. Oooooooh, that's a lot of Copics, Libby! It looks like you're all ready for coloring. I don't have any Copics but I had the chance to use them once. I've heard about the learning curve. I don't think you'll find them much more difficult than regular markers. Maybe even easier. Thankfully, there's lots of information available about how best to use them.

I'm glad you had such a good time at your brunch. Your time is so close now. It's getting exciting! I'll be watching for news...

  6. Oh, Libby, that is a beautiful family tree. I love BG paper too. What a wonderful friend to make that for you. I think you look great for being ready to pop! LOL! And, I am glad you were able to get out and see your friends. Friends are sooo important during the emotional roller coaster of pregnancy. TFS! XO, Mimi
