Sesame Street Birthday Party!

Remember Courtney? My sweet little Cupcake, who I used to blog about a lot!? Well would you believe SHE TURNED TWO ON FEBRUARY 4th?! How is it even possible that she's two already? Remember this? :-) Time is just speeding by at an alarming rate for me lately! But since it won't do me a favor and slow down, Courtney did indeed have a birthday, and we threw her a party to celebrate last weekend!I decided to go with a Sesame Street birthday party theme, mostly because I had seen cards similar to --> THIS ONE <-- way back before she was even born and decided that if I ever had kids, one of them needed a Sesame Street party just so I could make an invitation that looked like this! HAHAHASearching online for party ideas, I stumbled upon --> THESE <--Cookie Monster cupcakes and squealed so loud it was probably heard in the next county. So, I had to make my own version of those, too! I decided to mix it up a bit and add some Elmos!I had a craft for the kids to make - foam Elmo "puppets" on popsicle sticks, with the scalloped circle head cut out with my Nesties, and googly eyes, pompom noses and more fun foam for the mouths.I was pondering on Twitter what game to have for the kids to play, and my friend @paperbatty suggested having them toss a clothespin into a paper sack. I wanted it to fit the Sesame Street theme and finally it dawned on me - make the sacks be little garbage cans, and have them toss Oscar into the cans! YAY! My extremely talented mom helped with the painting on these. She even added Slimey the Worm on Oscar's side! :-)Of course I had some goodies to send home with the kids - homemade chocolate chip cookies that Cookie Monster himself would love! (the moms at the party, not completely thrilled that I was sending home even more sugar with their kids, hee hee)And just a couple other details - I had said on the invitation that the party was being brought to us by the letter C (for Courtney) and the number 2 (for her age) - so I used cookie cutters on some of the cheese to reflect that. And another snack at the party - mini sandwiches, which I cut out into shapes with cookie cutters - seemed more Sesame Street-y to have them in various shapes. :-)Courtney loved her party, and the rest of the kids seemed to enjoy it too. Now I get to rest until Carter's next birthday... which isn't until December. *whew* Thanks for stopping by today!

  5. Everything is perfect. You are seriously supermom. I feel like a total loser mom after reading your post. No birthday parties for my kids, LOL. We always try and bribe them with something else to avoid parties.
