Virtual Stamp Night - what fun!!

This weekend was VSN on SCS - Virtual Stamp Night! During VSN a new challenge is posted every hour, and you have 45 minutes to complete it. I only did the final three challenges tonight - that's three solid hours of stamping, pretty much all I could swing this time around! But boy was it fun! This first card was for the Captivating Colour challenge - we were to make a monochromatic card using flower images. My very first VSN card, and I thought it was a good idea to do a lot of cutting!?!? Silly me. But, I did finish it on time - well sort of - I actually had planned to add some ribbon leaves to the stems, but the buzzer sounded and I was out of time! I really like how this turned out, I think it's my favorite of the three I did! The next challenge was Spring Cleaning, re-purposing your everyday trash. I immediately thought of a baggie of bottle caps my sister had given me ages ago, which I had planned to turn into magnets. Thankfully I never got around to that, otherwise I don't think I would have come up with anything for this challenge! When I dumped out the bottle caps and saw the bright, fun colors of these Smirnoff caps, I immediately thought of my Andy Warhol/pop art ideas that have been on the brain lately & went for that look again. The groovy sentiment was done with my totally groovy Karen Foster snap stamps - LOVE THOSE!! The card turned out pretty cute - but there's no way I would ever mail this card, it's ridiculously heavy with all those bottle caps! I had to prop it up to photograph it, it wouldn't stand up on it's own!! And finally, the third card's challenge was called Turning Over a New (Gold) Leaf - this time we were to use metal of some sort on the card, and the suggestion was to try gold leafing. I had never used gold leaf on a card, so I broke out some foil leafing I had bought a while back & never opened. I stamped the Petal Prints image in gold Encore ink, added heat & stick powder, then laid down the gold leaf sheet & rubbed with my finger. Technically it did not work well - the coverage is really splotchy. But, I actually really like the look, it's very unique! It was hard to capture it in a photo - I actually used my flash on this photo to help, which I never do when photographing cards - but it looks even cooler in person. So... if you've never tried VSN, I highly recommend you do one in the future! Or, you can follow the link to it above, and try one anytime you have 45 minutes. It doesn't have to be "live" during actual VSN - you just have to follow the 45 minute rule. If you did VSN this time, especially the final 3 that I did, leave a link to your card(s) in the comments, I'd love to see how you interpreted the challenges! :-) Thanks for looking, time to go to bed. (by the way, three hours of rapid fire stamping and my desk is really messy again! Darn it!! But too tired to clean it up tonight..............!) :-)

  3. I don't think I could do any of these cards in 45 minutes! I know it sounds insane, but it would take me almost that long to come up with an idea. I spend way too long staring at my stuff and pushing it around on the table. It's easier when my room isn't messy. Maybe I have black outs or something, but it takes me way too long to make a card! These are great, Libby!

  4. Your cards are awesome! It always takes me forever to make a card, so I haven't tried VSN. Great job!!
