We both survived!

Well Carter and I did it - we survived our first day of preschool! :-) It had its rocky moments - when we arrived at the classroom he put the death grip around my neck, and cried when I said bye-bye and left - but I waited outside a few minutes and he stopped crying pretty quick. His teacher said he had a really good day - he especially enjoyed loading and unloading gravel in a toy dump truck outside. That is very typical Carter. He also created this crayola masterpiece - his first real art project!! Apparently they do an art project every time, so I'm sure eventually I won't know what to do with these - of course I can't possibly throw them away! (I say this now... we'll see as the stack grows...) Since I didn't manage to take any card photos today I thought I'd at least post something creative! :-) The biggest downside I see with this preschool thing, though, is the nap situation. Carter usually naps ~1-3pm. At school they have quiet time from 12-1pm. Today he actually slept there (I'm shocked!) but for only 45 minutes, which isn't long enough and spoiled his chances for a real nap at home. By the end of the day this lack of a good nap really showed - he was a little monster this evening!! So now we'll see if my few hours of free time in the morning are worth dealing with a screaming child in the evening... the jury is still out! Ok I've given you your fill of posts about family stuff - will try to get back in the card groove before next post!!!! Take care!

  3. what a wonderful new time for you both!! I just started scrapping about 3 years ago and my baby is going to be 18 in 2 weeks. I wish I had started sooner. I have read of people who scan all of their childrens art work and reprint as a small book each year, or who scan as use the pictures in layouts. It is impossible to save it all, but not impossible to save a picture of it all!!! We have saved a few special holiday pieces and still put them up even though my oldest is 27, she still has some preschool and grammer school pieces decorating our holidays!!

  7. Fabulous use of color! Love the abstract feel of this! Oh...that's Carter's...well, it's still great! Yes, darn it, this interruption in the routine takes some adjusting. It's hard for both of you to get used to change. There will be a lot of change from here on out. I think it's harder on the moms, though, because we feel it in a different way. Time will rush by now, especially when you look back. I know you'll be creating good times to look back on. Oh, dear...my baby's all grown up now, but he's still my baby. No matter what age, they're just as precious to you as the day they were born...sniff, sniff...

  10. I'd say you've got a budding artist there!
Preschool can be a great thing for mom and child. The 12-1 rest time is for the benefit of the preschool not necessarily your child. If after a few weeks your little guy really needs that good nap in the afternoon, feel free to pick him up at 12. You'll still get your 5 hours and have a nice evening to boot. Preschool should not dictate the quality of our home life. Just a thought. Been there done that. Love your creations! Best, Lani
