Things I should have been doing while both kiddos were napping (at the same time!!) today: 1) finish cleaning hall closet 2) wash kitchen cabinets with Murphy's 3) clear clutter from master bedroom to prep for carpet replacement 4) clean out old clothes from my closet 5) start scrubbing the baseboards. What I actually did during naptime - you're looking at it!! We went and had lunch with Daddy at his office today. Both kids fell asleep in the car on the way home. I got Carter into his bed and then brought Courtney with me into the stamp room, where she happily napped in her carseat and remains napping now. Carter, however, is waking up - I hear him singing the ABC song in his bed (yes, he can be cute as well as annoying!) so I need to hurry and get this posted! I probably should have taken Kalyber's advice and napped myself - but this made me happy too. :-) So for the card - first of all, I played with some of my new
Hambo rubber!! I just LOVE this little
elephant! He's so much fun on his own, and even more fun stamped three times in a row! Don't they look like they're dancing and waving hello all at the same time?! For the color scheme, I went with this week's
controversial challenge colors from SCS (
CC161) - Glorious Green, Real Red & Night of Navy - a lot of people are finding them ugly, and I wasn't sure about them myself when I read the post - but now that I've played with them I have to say I really like them!!! By the way, as usual, the card is way cuter IRL than in this picture!! That seems to always be the case. You all just have to come over to my house sometime and see all of these in person! For the layout I went with the
sketch challenge that Julee's hosting over at
Verve Visual - it's to find their Guest Designer for the month of June. My card doesn't qualify, though - I didn't use any Verve stamps. And I'm not delusional enough to think I'd ever win something like that anyway! I liked the sketch though, so I used it. This card also "qualifies" for this week's technique challenge (
TLC163), to stack ribbon on your card - but that's something I do often so it's not like I'm really trying a new technique! But see how this works? Put enough challenges together (using Hambo stamps today was sort of like a challenge too, since I needed to fulfill my design team obligations!!) and voila, the card pretty much makes itself! LOL! There's one other little detail that I love and of course you can't see in the photo so I need to point it out - I painted all of the elephants' nails with Spica glitter pen - fun!! Ok, Carter's singing is starting to lean more toward whining to get out of bed, so I better run.

ReplyDeleteI think you did a really awesome job with Julee's sketch. And I love those dancing elephants.
ReplyDeleteWow girl, you have been busy! New baby, active toddler, all that cleaning, renovating, and stamping. I get tired thinking of it. You did a great job on this sketch by the way. I did not even attempt it I'm sad to say. I got stuck at the Glorious Green and could go no further. It is probably my least favorite green. Well, you made it work, looks awsome on these dancing elephants!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute. I love love love your card.
ReplyDeleteVery, very cute. I'd have never thought of colouring the elephants that way and I love it.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I would love to come over to look at your cards IRL, I am not falling for that. You are just trying to trick us into cleaning out the hall closet and scrubbing the baseboards, aren't you? :)
Glad you got a bit of time to yourself today. You deserve it!
