Ever since I saw
Carole's post on Tuesday that she was hosting this week's TCP Tuesday Inspiration Challenge, I've been dying to play along! But sadly I've had very little time for stamping again this week. And I wanted to be original and choose a DIFFERENT Jimmy Buffett song than the one she chose (the challenge was to make a card based on a Jimmy Buffett song), but every time I thought of something to make, I realized I couldn't because the stamp I needed was boxed up at my sister's place! WAH! But I did have this adorable and oh so yummy cheeseburger stamp in my
Hambo binder. So, Cheeseburger in Paradise it is!! (Sorry I'm so unoriginal, Carole!!) I also wish I could have used some
TCP stamps on this, but sadly I have none. But I would love to own some someday (HINT HINT!). LOL. This card is actually a double challenge card - I also played along with Taylor's sketch challenge for this week's
TECC13 - Taylor comes up with such fun challenges! I made a special trip up to Archiver's for this card (yes, the hardships I endure for my art... life is rough...) to buy some tropical-looking paper because I also realized that the big stack of tropical papers I already own, which will someday be used to complete my Hawaii scrapbook, is at my sister's place too. Turns out I'm really not liking this
having half of my supplies boxed up thing as much as I thought I would...! The paper I ended up with is from Reminisce and is called Palm Tree Paradise, which I thought was fitting. The other sheet is Cocktails & Dreams, and it's cute with different drink names written all over it - but you can't hardly tell because I ended up covering it mostly up! But I had to use it because I don't believe there's a single Jimmy Buffett song without mention of some form of alcoholic beverage in it, but perhaps I'm mistaken. Anyway, I digress. For cardstock I pulled out some oldies but goodies, Cool Caribbean (also fitting!) and Marigold Morning. I also dusted off my little library clips, that were in a mini catalog a little while ago and I just *had to* have but I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've used a single one! I used my slit slot punch to make the scallop border (I seem to have an inability to remember if it's called a slit punch or a slot punch so I've decided here on out to just call it my slit slot punch!) and I hand-stitched the zigzag and x's with linen thread. Guess that's about it - this was one of those cards that I played with FOREVER (and spread over several days of getting a tiny bit of stamping time here and there) - I didn't think it would ever come together into something I liked, but in the end it actually did! Here's a toast (with a
cold draught beer) to perseverance!
- Stamps: Hamburger from Hambo Stamps, Karen Foster snap stamps
- Paper: Cool Caribbean, Marigold Morning, Gable Green, Whisper White, Reminisce DP
- Ink: Chocolate Chip (Craft & Classic)
- Accessories: Clear EP, Copic markers, linen thread, slit punch, library clip
This is adorable, Libby! I love what you've done with the Hambo hamburger! :) Thanks for playing the sketch challenge!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh the hamburgers look yummy for the tummy!!! Great card!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a FUN card! It looks good enough to eat but then again it is dinner time here!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it! The burgers and background paper are perfect! Great job!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! The sketch is awesome and all your little bits and pieces put together are so cool! Love the paper. I also frequently spend several days coming back to a card a few minutes at a time because sometimes that's the only kind of time I have. Your perseverance really paid off--this is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOH I LOVE your cheeseburger card! How cool!
