I've decided to declare this week Ocean Week here on Libby's Little Addiction! You know, like Shark Week on Discovery. I mentioned yesterday that I'm afraid of sharks - at the same time I am incredibly fascinated by them. I used to tune in faithfully whenever they'd air Shark Week. It's sort of like an accident by the side of the road - you know you really shouldn't look, yet you just can't help it...! I know quite a lot about sharks. I respect them immensely. They are meant to live in the ocean. I am not. :-) But today's not even about sharks - maybe they will appear later this week! :-) I just *love* this image I used, from the Stampin' Up Summer By The Sea set, it reminds me so much of Carter. He would play in the sand or rocks forever if I let him. I know he's going to absolutely love our beach trip in August - and that's what it's really all about! And that's why I chose to just write "happiness" at the bottom of the image. This has to be the simplest card I've made in ages, but I really like it a lot. I got out my old friends I've been neglecting - the Watercolor Wonder Crayons - to color the image. I've been so Copic-focused since I bought those crazy pens (and feel the need to justify the purchase!) that I completely forgot how much I *LOVE* my watercolor crayons! So coloring this image made me very happy. I chose the colors originally based on
Kristina Werner's latest color challenge, but I strayed when I added some Bashful Blue. The sketch is
Jen Del Muro's latest Sketch For You To Try - I didn't really embellish the basic sketch at all! And I even played along with
Sharon Johnson's latest stamp simply challenge (and really took the stamping simply to heart!) she called "Some like it hot... or cold" - the challenge was to incorporate some form of liquid in the card. Obviously mine is the sea. And hopefully a few more cards will follow that same theme this week as well! Thanks for stopping by today - hope my super simple card didn't disappoint you!
- Stamps: Summer by the Sea from Stampin Up!
- Paper: Sahara Sand, Bashful Blue, Wild Wasabi (textured), watercolor paper
- Ink: Black StazOn
- Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, So Saffron brads, black micron pen
Ahhh.....ocean week.....sounds fabulous!

A wonderfully crisp and appealling card with great ocean colors!!! Love the sketch, too!!! So glad you could incorporate our challenge into this wonderful card -- thank you so much!!! Beautifully colored image!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is simple and gorgeous! I love it. That boy does remind me of Carter! And I'm enjoying ocean week because this last weekend was very hard to be home after two weekends in a row at the beach!
ReplyDeleteYou're really stretching that trip out! Might as well make the most of it. Anticipation is half the fun. This really does look like Carter--maybe just a little older. I don't know...he's getting to be a pretty big boy. You colored this beautifully, Libby!
ReplyDeleteLove it! It is sooo hard to do something simple anymore, isn't it?? I forgot how LOL. Little Courtney is so cuteI can't stand it...I just love the age she is at in her last adorable outfit :)
