This card idea was borrowed from my incredibly talented friend Heather (heather maria on Flickr) - she is the master of beautiful vellum flowers with this Hero Arts Large Flower stamp. Check out this card or this card or this card - see what I mean? *swoon* Heather you should know, I got tons of compliments at the swap - thanks for the inspiration!!
I had to keep my card fairly quick and easy to make, as there would be about 10 minutes or so to make it. To simplify things (and to avoid a major embossing powder mess!) I pre-stamped & embossed all the vellum flowers. For 40 stampers. So yes, 80 flowers. Remind me to think of something less time consuming for the next swap! LOL!
And speaking of ~40 stampers (there were a few short of 40, actually) - here's the whole lovely group of us!
And here's a little collage of photos I took throughout the day with my phone...
Clockwise from top left, that's Lydia, some cards, some inky fingers, Brenda, Suzy, Lisa & Michelle, Bev, Karen, Rae Anne, Rachel, Christy and of course me and Lisa in the center.
Yay! Good times!
I loved making this card. I just thought it was so beautiful. It is definitely one of my faves!!!
ReplyDeleteSweet! It looks like you all had an awesome day, so jealous.LOL, Oh and I am still reading :)
ReplyDeleteI'm still here Libby! :)))
ReplyDeleteLove this, and I know it was a hit! Wish we had something like this around here......
I'm here, Libby! Love your sweet, Heather-inspired card! Just beautiful!!! And I can't believe you made 80 of those flowers!!! AAAHH!! I'm sure it was BIG hit--it's so delicate and gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I am so jealous! I know, we have SCS shoebox swaps here, too, but I *know* you guys!
ReplyDeletePS: How did you make that collage? I would love to learn how to do that!
Leslie, I made the collage with Picasa - SUPER EASY and Picasa is a free app to download.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunner!! I so wish I would have gone. Maybe next year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous card! And what a great idea for a get together for card makers! :>
ReplyDeleteLibby, yes of course I'm still reading! Your card is fab! I love the gorgeous flower and it looks brilliant against the beautiful pink and kraft bgs. I can't imagine how long it must have taken to make 80 flowers and you must have used a bucket of pearls! Thanks so much for the mention and lovely compliments:)
ReplyDeleteI loved reading about and seeing photos of what sounds like an amazing and fun day! I would really, really love to do a shoebox swap like this. Any chance of you holding it in Ireland next year?!
Beautiful card, Libby! Looks like you had a wonderful time!
