Yesterday's stage in the Tour de France was awesome - crazy crosswinds and smart tactics caused a shift in the standings and gave just a tiny glimmer of hope that anything can still happen in this year's Tour. But today's card was made to celebrate something other than the Tour de France.
The card features the Sunburst from Hero Arts, cut on my Silhouette. I was inspired to use this shape on a bicycle card after seeing Cristina's awesome post on A Blog Named Hero! The adorable little bicycle is from the stamp & die-cut set On the Go Bike. The fabby little star sequins are from a Studio Calico kit, and that sentiment - that PERFECT sentiment - is from Calico Borders.
I chose the red, white & blue and that perfect sentiment because this card celebrates American Mara Abbott winning the Giro Rosa - the Tour of Italy of women's cycling. Here she is sporting the USA kit (from USA Cycling's Facebook page):
I watched her ride in Chattanooga on Memorial Day in the USA Cycling National Championships. She earned Queen of the Mountains and the polka dot jersey that day, I took this photo of her on the podium. She was so tiny, I probably could have put her in my pocket for safe keeping. It's no wonder she can fly up Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, and all of those big mountains in Italy!
I loved watching the women's race in Chattanooga, it was so inspiring. I wish the women had equal coverage (and equal PAY, hello!) but alas they do not, boo. Mara Abbott will be the guest on Tour Chats tomorrow night, July 14 at 10pm. I'm looking forward to it!
Thanks for stopping by,
