Thank you thank you thank you!!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU for your incredibly kind comments about my dog. I so appreciate each and every one of them. And my heart goes out to all of you who've been through similar situations. I guess it's all part of owning a pet - sadly they don't live forever. Thank you so much for sharing, and for your thoughts and prayers. Cole seems just as healthy to me as he did a week ago, before we knew any of this - so I'm going to just try and not think about the inevitable and enjoy his company while he's here. And just for laughs - here's a photo from the first time we ever got him a summer haircut - I had no idea what "lion cut" meant when the groomer asked what I wanted done. He looked so funny - I was laughing so hard I was crying when I picked him back up. Good thing he didn't know to be insulted. He was just wagging his tail like mad, so happy to see me and to be cool for the summer... Ahhh, memories. And I learned... blend the head... blend the head... blend the head... :-)

  4. Libby, I am so sorry about your sweet dog! I certainly understand how you are feeling, as our 10 year old beagle got cancer this summer. The vet said 6 months and it was actually 2 weeks later when we put her to sleep. She had lost 30% of her body weight in that amount of time, and we did not want her to suffer needlessly. So I can empathize and know you will miss him when the time comes. I think he looks adorable with his mane!

  5. Oh Libby - I'm so sorry. I just lost my kitty this spring and it's just terrible when they're sick and you just want everything to go back to the way it was. What a beautiful dog - even half naked!! :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog! If you ever want to come stamp or sit in my classes I'd love to have you!

Can't believe you missed the mother ship - you're clearly one of the "normal" ones like me! :)

  10. I was wondering about the haircut! Oh, dear! I suppose it probably felt liberating... I'm glad to hear Cole is his same happy self. He's probably always been happy and always will be. No matter what, he's had a good life. I know how hard this is for you.

  11. LOL, one of my sister's dogs gets that kind of cut on him but he's a Border Collie mix so he's not so fluffy on the head. I call him the velvet dog when he gets his summer cut because his coat feels so soft and I know he's a lot cooler than he was earlier that day before he went to the groomer.
Another of my sister's dogs who actually got really sheered and looked terrible and sickly looking because she was so skinny at the time. She even knew she didn't look good when I picked her up because she had this pout on her that made me want to sheer those terrible groomers for making her feel like this. She had a complex for weeks. The velvet dog wouldn't even play with her for a couple of weeks.Poor thing. Needless to say we didn't go to THAT groomer again. Plus he said she was unmanageable. Jeez, probably because he was scalping her!! Grrr!!
