Canvas Tree

This weekend I was suffering from some big-time creative block. My hands are back to working relatively ok so I wanted to do a bunch of stamping, but I just couldn't figure out how to make a decent card, and actually put two failed attempts straight into the trash. Then I remembered that I'd been wanting to watch Jennifer McGuire's Holiday Thinking Inking classes over on Two Peas in a Bucket, but with the hand surgeries and hubby travels and whatnot, I hadn't had a chance. Sooooo... I spent my Friday evening staring at my laptop, watching the last six weeks worth of videos in one pop. Oh my. Jennifer makes everything look soooo easy, she's amazing!

So here's my first card that I made for her Week 6 challenge, stamping on different surfaces...

The tree is made from Claudine Hellmuth's Sticky-Back Canvas! In Jennifer's example, she twisted the strips of canvas to form the tree, but I just used the canvas flat, with frayed edges. After I attached it to the triangle, I inked it up with Distress ink. I love how it looks!

The background is Basic Grey from the Jovial line, and I stamped over it with my new favorite Hero Arts background stamp! I'm also loving their self-adhesive lace.

So big thanks to Jennifer for busting me out of my creative slump - I'll be back with another creation inspired by her class tomorrow. :-)

  • Stamps: CG222 Music Background, CL343 Holiday Sayings from Hero Arts
  • Paper: Kraft CS (Archivers), Basic Grey Jovial DP
  • Ink: Vintage Photo, Peeled Paint Distress inks
  • Accessories: CH233 Cream self-adhesive lace (Hero Arts), Claudine Hellmuth Sticky-Back Canvas (Ranger), Spellbinders Labels 8 die, ribbon, hemp cord
