July My Monthly Hero - blog hop + giveaway

Hello! It's time to launch another Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kit, and this one is an absolute beauty! I love the sea and all of the amazing creatures who inhabit it. Especially the beautiful sea turtle!

I wanted to make a soft and painterly card, so I used my watercolor paints directly on my stamps! Have you tried this? It's super fun. Not all the results are great, but I love the process of playing and seeing what will work. And it's especially convenient with my MISTI - I just leave the stamps in place, and add different colors to the stamp and re-stamp.

I used some items from past kits to work on this cards, including the Daniel Smith dot sheet and waterbrush from the April kit! I love these kits, they're always so very useful! :)

Here's a look at the gorgeous stamp set included in this month's kit! It's a big 6x8 set, which is like getting two regular clear sets! There's also matching dies, a brand new ombre ink pad, fab sequins from Lucy, and some pretty metallic papers.

Another thing I love? I know how much trouble our oceans are in, and the ocean animals like the sea turtle. Plastic pollution is out of control. Did you know plastic grocery bags look exactly like jellyfish to a sea turtle? Jellies are one of their main foods - so you can just imagine the trouble that results when they accidentally eat a grocery bag. I love that Hero Arts is donating 10% of the profit from this kit to support the World Wildlife Fund's ocean preservation program!

There's a big blog hop to launch the kit - and a giveaway, too! Comment on every post to for more chances to win a kit! The giveaway closed Sunday July 10 at 11:59pst, and the winner will be announced on the Hero Arts blog.
