Ah yes, in the immortal words of Bow Wow Wow... I want candy!! Blog candy, that is! But alas, I never win blog candy... but that's ok, maybe YOU will! I had thought to myself that I would offer up some candy once I got to the 1000 hits mark, and low and behold that happened this morning! Only problem is, it happened much sooner than I expected! I really can't believe people are actually taking the time to look at my silly little blog. I know I'm not in the same league as the incredible stampers I have listed to the left (and I am discovering & adding more and more wonderful stampers everyday!) - but I'm just having so much fun with this! For one thing, it's getting me into the stamp room more regularly, and I am *loving* that!! I went into this with two goals for this little blog... 1) to work at improving my own stamping by trying to do the SCS challenges as often as possible, visiting the blogs of all these people who completely inspire me and trying the new ideas I learn from them, and "just doing it!" - having the blog is extra encouragement to make time for stamping, since I want to have something new to post! And 2) to get others, whether it's my friends, customers, or other random stampers who stumble upon this little blog, as inspired and excited about stamping as I have been lately! I got this awesome email from my friend Leigh this morning, which confirms I'm at least achieving #2:
Alrighty- I just feel the need to share the ripple effect of your little blog...
So, I bookmarked your blog when you sent out the note that you had started it & thought it was great, I like it, I'll visit it often. Well, now I visit it every day religiously and view not only your posts, but the posts of your heroes, your inspiration blogs, etc. where I will inevitably find products that I *need* and seek out to find them either in a store or online & purchase them. I went to Archivers during my lunchtime yesterday - and OMG!!! That's all I have to say about that. All this to say that this is sheer madness & I love every minute of it. NOW...if I could just find the time to make cards or work on my scrapbooking!
How cool is that?? This just cracked me up, and made me happy to know others are as excited as I am!!
So, without any further adieu... I would love to offer up some blog candy, as a great big THANK YOU to whoever is out there actually reading this silly little blog. I have up for grabs some papers from a super cute little DCWV "retro" mat pack, some Bazzill flowers, and a couple yards of ribbon from a few of my favorite recently purchased spools. Since I'm a child of the 80's and started this post off with a Bow Wow Wow reference, I'd like you to leave a comment and tell me your favorite 80's song or band (if you had one)... so I can relive my youth! (I know who Diane will say if she's reading this! Can you believe this girl actually has a Duran Duran rubber stamp!?! How cool is that!?) I'll randomly choose a winner on Sunday night, 9pm CST. Good luck! :-)
And a little 80's fyi: I had my husband's vehicle today as he took mine in for service - he has XM radio, I do not - so of course I had to turn it to The 80's on 8! I heard that every Sunday at 11am CST they are going to replay old Casey Kasem American Top 40 broadcasts from the 80s!! How fun!! I used to be glued to the radio every Sunday in junior high... except of course when I'd turn off the radio to head to Skateland for some rollerskating! :-)
Have a Tree Trimming Christmas

*Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!*
It's Christmas Day already down here in Australia! I must have been a good

Wow! I'm the first one to post. How exciting. First time looking at your blog and it is great. I clicked on your blog link while surfing SCS and I love the doodle card you made and thought I check it out. Glad I did.
ReplyDeleteOh there are so, so many 80's bands/songs that I love - I'll go with 'You Spin Me Round' by Dead or Alive.
ReplyDeletenice stuff!!
ReplyDeleteBety :)
Yummy, Libby! Well, I'm a mother of the 80's...let's see, did you say song, or band? How about Sting--Every Breath You Take (or maybe it was called I'll Be Watching You)--you know what I mean. That's the only one I can remember the name of right now. Dang! There were a million of them!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I can't pick an absolute favorite, but since it was the only 45 I had, I'll go with "I love Rock & Roll" by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun candy! I used to tape Casey Kasem shows...how pathetic is that? I got my first walkman (about the size of a toaster) in 82-83 and my first tape was the Footloose soundtrack. Whoa, was I cool! My fav song...gosh, there are so many! In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel was our song for the first dance at our wedding so I will go with that one!
ReplyDeleteMy all time fav band started in the 80's so I will go with U2! I love them :)
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time visiting your blog and already I've added it to my reader. I'll definately be back.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...my favorite 80's song or band would have to be Queen. (I still love the 80's music how sad is that?)
The 80s I can remember well since I was married in them and had 2 kids then. My favorite song would have to be Chicago's "You're the Inspiration" since it is me and hubby's song. Then there is that Footloose album I played to death. LOL
ReplyDeleteHi, Just found your blog through Allison (Stampin When I Can) and when I started looking through your blog I was so glad that I had (found you, that is). You are very talented and I love your style!!! Maybe you can do a tutorial on how you do that stitching with, is that hemp twine or something else? Anyway, beautiful work!!
ReplyDeleteLet's see, my favorite 80's band or song! I was a huge fan of Pat Benatar! I don't know if I can pick a favorite song. Anything by her, though.
lois lane
Great question. I LOVED REO Speedwagon. I didn't have a favorite song because, as far as I was concerned, they were all great! I wore out several cassette tapes that I listened to over and over. Love your blog. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog candy to go along with a great blog. You are so entertaining to read and it feels like a visit with a friend. Keep it up and congrats.
ReplyDeleteCheryl Sims
I am a huge John Denver fan and one song I used to play aLOT is Home Grown Tomatoes from his Higher Ground album. It was very late 80s - 1989, I think. Yes, I am a dork and I'd love to find that album on CD someday.
ReplyDeleteOh, the 80's - the stuff that makes my 14 year old cringe! My husband and I love anything by John Cougar/John Cougar Mellencamp - I don't think he dropped the Cougar until the 90s! Our radio station has the 80s brunch on Sundays and our daughter just hates driving anywhere with us on Sunday morning! :)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog so I'm off to explore some more. Thanks!
Congrats on your hits! I loved Def Leppard in Jr. High. We were obsessed with them and a group of us lip synched "Photograph" for music class! How cheesy !!! :)
ReplyDeleteFirst time at your blog and LOVE IT! so I will be back. Hmmm....I still listen to the eighties (and my 18 yr old son is hooked too) - LOL! I love Pat Benatar(Love is a Battlefield), Bryan Adams(Summer 0f 69) oh, the list could go on and on! My friend and I used to hang out in my room, listening to Journey records, and making up dance moves - no laughing now :-)
ReplyDeleteI found your blog from a link on Leslie's blog (Running with scissors). So glad I surfed over - love your works!
ReplyDeleteNot sure that I have an 80's favorite, but was reminded last nite on Idol, just how much I enjoyed the BeeGee's growing up!
Great blog, first time here. Love to try for blog candy but haven't been lucky enough yet. I love the 80's music, daughter hates it:) I have to say that Def Leppard is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI was a big Platinum Blonde fan.... and Howard Jones... and Honeymoon Suite... and Corey Hart.... and The Police... Men at Work... Chicago... oh gosh, there were so many!
ReplyDelete80's band? Madonna of course!
ReplyDeleteHi Libby! I found you through Running with Scissors. Your blog is great. I'm putting you in my favorites and I've subscribed. I love your cards, and your messy desk doesn't have mine beat. Thanks for sharing your beautiful work....Rita
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blog candy. I didn't listen to much music in the 80's. I was way too busy raising my new little boys. They are 18 months apart and they kept me busy.
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding? I was having kids in the 80s! My favorite song is by Raffi -- any song by Raffi! He had one about biscuits in the oven I think. Great fun!
ReplyDeleteJourney...yes, I still have the album and I still listen to it sometimes...
ReplyDeleteI can't really recall my fav. 80's song, but for a 80's band I've gotta go with Duran Duran! But honorable mention goes to the CARS! Both great ones.
ReplyDeleteTeryl
Yes, I was a child of the 80's and enjoyed so many bands that are embarrassing to me now...can you say New Kids on the Block??? I loved them. But I do still like all the Prince stuff from the 80's so I guess I will go with that. My hubby has the Sounds of 80's CD collection and some of those old songs crack me up!
ReplyDeleteGeny
Hi Libby!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog, also through Allison. That girl knows how to promote great sites!
One of my favorite memories from the 80's is Run-D.M.C performing "Walk this way" with Aerosmith at the Super Bowl..AWESOME!
I am back another day- been checking in on your blog for awhile now. Love it, of course!
ReplyDelete80's band- I am goin with Bryan Adams: remember floating in the pool with his summer of 69! Ah, the times........
Hi, just found your blog and will be returning daily. :) The song I remember most from the 80's is Always by Atlantic Starr. This is the first song my hubby and I danced to after our wedding. It's OUR song.
ReplyDeleteOM Goodness!! I totally Love your Silly little Blog. Im Not even that Brave!! Cheers to you!!
ReplyDeleteFav 80's Band... Gotta Gotta Gotta Say MADONNA!! And still cool in the 21st Century! Happy Blogging!
Hi! I actually graduated in '82. My songs are now played on the"Golden Oldies"! Sometimes I do realize that I am old. My carry-over band is definetly the Eagles. I went to see them in Atlanta for their "Hell froze over" tour. Those of you who are not old enough to know, when they broke up Don Henly was quoted as saying they would reunite when "hell froze over". I'm so glad it did!
ReplyDeleteMary
I found you through Allison and this is my first time looking around! Great Blog! Had to add to the fav's list. The way it's growing maybe I should demote a blog everytime I add one...yikes, so many good ones out there though!
ReplyDeleteAll right 80's song...Footloose is 80's right? I have a really bad memory for song titles. Still haven't see the movie though!
YM
Another Texas stamper!!! I'm in the Ft. Hood area. I just found your blog and will visit often. My favorite band is probably the Eagles--with the Don Henly connection to East Texas and all--that's where I grew up.
ReplyDeleteHi! I just found your blog via "Running with Scissors." :) I had so many favorites in the 80s that it's difficult to choose. I have always been an ELO fan, so "All Over the World" was a fave. I loved "The Rose" by Bette Midler and Blondie's "The Tide is High. Too many to list... I always love something that "grabs me," being a child of the 60s. LOL! Thanks for letting me play!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Karen in WY

During the 80s I was a young child so I basically had to listen to whatever my mom listened to and since she listened to The Cars ALOT back then, I still love them to this day!!!
ReplyDeleteSince I was a young child in the 80s, I had to listen to what Mom listened to, and ever since I still love The Cars!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge Duran Duran fan! I loved them and I still do listen to them every once in a while on my ipod. Thanks for sharing the blog candy - I'll be back often to check your blog.
ReplyDeleteWow, love the blog! Just subscribed. Okay, about the 80's...I was just in elementary school during the 80's so I don't remember much of the music. But I have learned to love it as I got older. One of my favorite songs is probably Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm too young to remember the 80s (I was born in '86), so I don't have a favourite 80s song or band that fits in what the radio stations around here call "80s music." There are some musicians who started earlier/continued later/didn't play Top-40-type music who I really like - if that sort of stuff counts, my favourite 80s song is Steve Earle's "My Old Friend the Blues."
ReplyDeleteThis is my first visit to you blog- I'll be back!
ReplyDeleteGreat candy! My favorite 80's band was Tears for Fears. I still crank up the stereo every time I hear "Shout"
My favorite SOng was Bryan adams ..Summer of 69 ...I still Love it Its one song I always have on every playlist !!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm.. for me it would have to be " I love Rock & Roll"..put another dime in the juke box baby!!
ReplyDeleteI will be the first to admit that I would like to forget the 80's. Yet the one band that sticks in my brain is Poison. I bought it at least 5 times I some how kept losing it. Still have it now!
ReplyDeleteAs I'm reading all these posts I'm going, 'Wow I love that song, OMG that one too!'. Too many fun songs to come up with just one, I spent the 80s dancing the night away to so many fun songs. Congratulations on all your hits - your blog is delish!
ReplyDeleteFabulous question! Just reading through the comments takes me back! :)
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit this, but I was a big fan of Poison too. I have their greatest hits CD and can listen to it over and over! My favorite song from the CD is "Ever Rose Has Its Thorn"!
I want my MTV Baby! Mark Knopfler and the Dire Straits Yea baby! Big hair and everything! I always wanted hair like John Bon Jovi.
ReplyDeleteGreat Blog candy. You go girl and keep inspiring us out here in blog land!
The 80's were a bit before my time (I graduated in 1973) and I was never big into music anyway. I have to say though that I was a Joan Jett fan and pretty much liked anything she did.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all of your great ideas -- I need all the help I can get!
Cynid Lauper-Girls just wanna have fun! and when I am in a mood-Rain on the Scarecrow by Mellencamp.
ReplyDeleteThere are many songs and bands that I loved from the 80's - especially anything from Pretty in Pink or Breakfast Club. But, I have to say my all time favorite sing along at the top of your lungs 80's song is Tainted Love by Soft Cell.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a favorite. Some of them I enjoyed were Devo, Banana Rams, The Go Go's, Joan Jett, But if you really get down to it, I liked the 70's better, Journey, Queen, Credance Clearwater,Kiss. These bands were more my style.
ReplyDeleteJust love this question!! I have too many songs to list so I will just name my favorite groups. Early 80's Duran Duran (loved John Taylor!!) and late 80's The Cure. Prince and the Police too. Sorry, I am a big music lover.
ReplyDeleteSo many... But UB40, Bryan Adams and the Bangles all take me right back to those awkward teenage years.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! Too fun! The song that comes to mind first is Footloose. ร
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Wow...just stumbled onto your blog. Very nice. I graduated from high school in 1986 and loved anything by Def Leppard!
ReplyDeleteI listened to Casey Kasem count them down every Sunday morning. My favourite band back then who I saw in concert twice was Van Halen.
ReplyDeleteThe 80's huh? I don't remember really listening to anything in particular - I was too busy chasing kids, so I must have lost those years.
ReplyDeleteOooooh I want candy!!! Love your blog. Found by linking from Runny with Scissors. Fav 80's song, MTV by Dire Straits!! Woo-Hoo!
ReplyDeleteI love the 80's! My two absolute faves are: Melt With You by Modern English and Tainted Love by Soft Cell. When those come on the radio I make the kids stop talking so I can sing along without interruption.
ReplyDeleteYou're silly little blog is doing very well! I was alerted by Allison and I will be visting more often!
Too funny! The 80's make me chuckle...I was reading some of the other posts to "refresh" my memory (I've got a bad one!) since I listen to whatever's current (unlike my sister, who's so stuck in the 80's for music).
ReplyDeleteBut I do remember loving Tears for Fears too...among others.
Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie in grade 8 too. Yikes!
Thanks for the candy (and the memories!)
You have to give yourself more credit! Great blog! Don't know how 80's, but I liked the BeeGee's
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the blog & just enjoy it!
Ilene B
The Cars! "My best friend's girl"!Had to think on that one. There are so many good ones!
ReplyDeleteAck... you had to bring up 80s music. My poor poor fiance will now have to listen to my music mix again lol. I love anything by Journey, Madonna, Pat Benatar, basically any 80s music.
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing back some fun memories!!
I used to listen to Chicago for hours on end ... great blog.
ReplyDeleteUmmm.....I have lots of favorites but if I had to narrow it down it would have to be Poison and Bon Jovi. Brett Michaels was the one plastered on all of my binders though.
ReplyDeleteAll the songs of Bryan Adams. I thought he was sooooooo cool back then!!
ReplyDeleteOMG! How hillarious! I'd have to say Chicago & Bryan Adams. Summer of '69 really takes me back. I do have to say that I think I still have my Eagles double album and Xanadu. HA!
ReplyDeleteBritiney
Oooh, yeah...roller skating.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Take On Me...by Aha...well, at least that was my favorite video!
Hey, my favorite 80's song is "Science". Great blog BTW!
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't think I can narrow it down to just one. I really like all 80's music, some of everything probably! Congrats on your hits!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! One of my favorites was Bon Jovi...SLippery WHen Wet was one of the first records I bought for myself!
ReplyDeleteWow! Look at that prize.
ReplyDeleteSo hard to pick just one song, I love them all. I especially love anything Dmode, so I would have to say Just Can't Get Enough.
There is no way that I could pick just one. I love just about everything 80's...except maybe the clothes and mile high bangs. Although I have to admit that I can tease with the best of them. I loved Chicago, Poison, Sting, and I could go on forever. We used to throw mini concerts for our parent with spoons in our hands and the Footloose soundtrack. ;o)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog through Alison...love it so far!
ReplyDeleteFave 80's...Def Leppard's Rock of Ages, Endicottt by Kid creole (obscure, but very cool!), Something about You by level 42, Bands I loved: Level 42, Def Leppard, Inxs, Motley Crue, Big Country,The Police,Platinum Blonde, Nena...the list is huge so I'll stop now!
Since I am a child of the 60's, I was listening to the oldies but goodies during the 80's. (and still am:) But I did love Michael Jackson's songs. I couldn't get enough of watching him dance to Beat It, Billie Jean, etc. Freaky as he is, that man's music sizzled.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many 80s songs that I love. "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper will never get old to me. I've listened to that song countless times.
ReplyDeleteYou already said it in your blog, but my favorite is Duran Duran! Anything they sing is awesome, I bet you're dying to borrow that D2 stamp I have too! :) That may inspire me to actually scrap the 4 concerts I attended in 2006!
ReplyDeleteYou will probably hate me, but since I was born in 1980, I don't remember to much about the music of my first ten years! One thing I do remember is that my mom liked Whitney Houston, so I grew up liking her too.
ReplyDeleteI liked so many groups! The Cars, Journey, and Pat Benatar just to name a few. One of my fav songs was "Edge of Seventeen" by Stevie Nicks.
ReplyDeleteAngie W
Wow! The 80's should be memorable as I graduated from high school in '79. Bryan Adams was big (as he's a fellow Canadian), Corey Hart (I Wear my Sunglasses at Night), Ian Hunter(Cleveland Rocks), Journey, REO Speedwagon, ELO, Alan Parson's Project....How can ya' tell I've been downloading music on to my ipod lately!!
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog and will be subscribing. Great job!!
Heather L.
Happy to have found your blog... Great cards and lovely stories.
ReplyDeleteFavorite artist of the 80's? Pat Benatar, hands down...favorite song?...Hmmmmm...Hit Me with Your Best Shot! So...hit me with your best blog candy! :-)
ReplyDeleteNice blog, BTW!
Congrats on your hits! My fave song would be Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler. But the 80's album that made me a radio junkie had to be Bon Jovi Slippery When Wet.
ReplyDeleteGREAT blog candy and congratulations on your hits! I found out about your blog from Running with Scissors blog! I love Pat Benatar! and yes I still listen to 80's music at work and in the car!!
ReplyDeleteEllie
I found your blog thru scs and it is a great blog. Its hard to choose who my favorite artist or what my favorite song was maybe something by tears for fears
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through SCS and come to it daily. In fact I have you on my blog roll! Hee hee! My favorite 80's song is Crowded House-Don't Dream It's Over. When I was younger my dad would take me roller skating and to teach me to skate we would "couple skate" when it was not so busy on the skate floor. This some was the first some played on the first skate, so when it came time for him to pick out the father/daughter dance at my wedding 3 years ago, that's the song he chose, and that's why I like it! Ok, story time over! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Libby!
ReplyDeleteFun contest :)
My favorite band, in any decade, is Aerosmith!
I was born in 1980 and I still love all the 80's music. It is hard to pick a favorite, I liked Jon Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and Many more. Great Blog!
ReplyDeleteI am loving your little blog! as for the 80's - I have tons of 80's music on my ipod and love it. I used to go rollerskating too!! Ours was called Skate Country and I met my husband there. He asked me to skate and the rest is history. that was 25 years ago. keep up the great work in your blog, I will be checking in between listening to Bon Jovi and Def Leopard
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! I'm in! I'm a child of the nineties, though my husband could go all '80s on your you-know-what...He also loves Sirius Big 80's, while I love the Pulse (90's!). I will say Tracy Chapman, since I remember being in middle school loving her "tape"--you know, the one with Fast Car.
ReplyDeleteHi Libby!
ReplyDeleteI think your "silly little blog" is great!!
1985 was Live Aid.
My favorite performance was Queen doing "Bohemian Rhapsody".
I'm gonna hafta go with Journey but there are so many I love. ABBA, Prince, Bon Jovi ( a close second to Journey), Jefferson Starship, Pat Benatar, John Cougar Mellencamp, REO Speedwagon. Oh I love to reminisce. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Off to listen to 80's music tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI like the blog; it's a great way to keep in touch without seeing you at work anymore...even though I only live a few blocks away! How sad! Have a great Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite 80's band has to be Chicago...all of their songs from all decades. I once saw them in concert where the Beach Boys opened for them.
Blessings,
Flora
I found out about your blog from Running with Scissors blog! I loved the Gogos! Belinda was the BEST! I have bookmarked your blog!
ReplyDeleteWOW this is so cool back tracking in time. What awesome candy you are offering in this fun. Your site is great and I will be returning. Band of the 80's...lets see...I would have to say YES. Have you ever heard of this one? I know some of you out there has. Good Luck to everyone!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and will be coming back! One of my favorites from the 80's (and still, with their new sound!)is Bon Jovi. Thanks for a fun post!
ReplyDelete
