From Courtney's Closet #11 - an inspiration challenge

Welcome to another edition of From Courtney's Closet, my weekly challenge where I pick an outfit from my baby girl's closet and let it inspire a card. If you're new to my blog, you can see all of the past weeks here. Since I'm doing "Hambo Week" this week, I sort of cheated on the challenge a little - I started looking at her clothes thinking "hmm, what could I put her in that would go with a Hambo stamp!" ;-) Then I saw this little ballerina outfit that Courtney's Aunt Laura bought for her, and we had a winner!! Isn't this little ballerina stamp cute?? Although I have to admit, this outfit is getting a little tight on Courtney - you can sort of see how tight the fabric is over her sweet baby belly, and look at those chubby legs - makes me think the Hambo ballerina I used on this card may have been a better choice... ;-) I'm also not so sure about this particular bow for Courtney - it sorta looks more like a sweatband. If I only had some leg warmers for her... makes me have to sing "she's a maniac, maniac on the floor, and she's dancing like she's never danced before..." LOL Today's card is quite self-explanatory. Typical me - polka dot and scallop goodness. A couple tidbits that you may find interesting - I wanted to make an oval shadow under her, so I punched one out of cardstock with my SU oval punch, and then used the negative cardstock (square cardstock with an oval hole in it! ;-) ) as a template for coloring her shadow. And also there's Frosted Lace Stickles on her tutu and on the sentiment, not sure how well those are showing up.

Last week was a banner week as far as participants goes!!! So many, in fact, that I'm going to just post all the links to their ADORABLE creations here and then attempt to add them in a slideshow. I'm trying Flickr this time and I haven't used it before... so cross your fingers it will work... But first, a HUGE thanks to Kim (x2!!), Karen, Nancy, Leslie, Kathryn, Sue, Monica, Susan and Diane for playing!!! That is just so exciting! (And btw, a couple of my stamping idols have told me that they may play, and I will completely pee my pants if they ever do (Hi Sharon, Hi Susan!) ;-)) Thanks everyone for stopping by today!

  1. I love Courtney's Mary Jane socks! They sell those in a maternity shoppe here, as well as different color "sneaker" socks for boys.

Your card is great, and your little dancer is adorable, though I agree the headband made me flashback (not flashDANCE) to the 80s! LOL

  2. Ok, those are the CUTEST pictures ever! I love the card too!

  3. When I bought the outfit, I assumed they purposefully made the headband look like a sweatband, to go with the dancer outfit...I think it is adorable!

I love the card too. SO cute!

  4. How cute!!!! (And the hippo card is NOT what your daughter looks like... she's a doll!!! - chubby legs and all!)

I REALLY need to play along... this is one of the neatest challenges out in blogland...

Oh, and I agree... Peas are NOT good!

  5. Cute pics of baby girl this week...I have the perfect stamp for this challenge...I will have to stamp fast when I get home as I am on a mini vacation until Monday! The Flickr thing is neat too!

  6. Hahahahaha, leave it to you to have an actual baby tutu to go with your ballerina card!! That is just too bloody funny; you have me in tears over here.
Perhaps, Tim could draw a lumberjack or something....

  7. SO CUTE. Those little socks are adorable. I love the chubby rolls. I had chubby babies too! Aren't they the best!!!!
    Here's mine:

  8. Adorable!!! Such a sweet face on your little ballerina. Ok, the card is cute, too. But you know when you post these SWEET photos of Courtney it's hard to look at anything else! I hope I can do your challenge this weekend, although I don't have any ballerina stamps. Love those soft, pretty colors. Fabulous bunch of players and cards for last week's challenge!

  9. Hi Libby:
What a darling little girl! I am totally enjoying your blog and these challenges. Thanks! Here's my card:

  10. How could I pass up this week's challenge -- Courtney is just too cute for words.

    Here is my card. :)

  11. I posted my Pink Tutu card tonight! I swear I have what I now think of as "Monica-itis" has to do with her polka dot comments LOL. I guess I just love polka dots too and now I will forever think of her when I stick them on my cards LOL!

I always enjoy your comments - thanks so much for taking the time to leave one!
