You didn't really think I'd let
Courtney's birthday celebration come and go without posting a card myself, now did you? Yes, I'm a day late and a dollar short, but here it is! It was nice to spend some time in the stamp room tonight - last night was not fun, but tonight Carter went right to sleep and so far (knock on wood!) hasn't started crying. I'm not sure what sort of bug he had last night - at various times he said his ears hurt, his tummy hurt or his head hurt, and at one point he woke up screaming that his hands were cold and he wanted his mittens on, even though they felt very hot to the touch, that was a little freaky - anyway, after a really good nap this afternoon he is apparently much better. And we ended up having a fun day for Courtney's birthday - we went up to Toys R Us to pick out her birthday present, then met Daddy at work for lunch. At dinner we sang Happy Birthday to Courtney, which made her grin
from ear to ear. Her big birthday party isn't until Sunday - I'll have to post photos of her eating her birthday cupcake! And speaking of photos - my camera is still dead, I did quite a number on it! :-( But, I pulled out our little cheapo camera that I make Joel take on his trips (rather than taking my camera!) and it actually did a fairly decent job on this card photo. So, I'm not dead in the water afterall, hooray! For my card this week I decided to try one of the oldie-but-goodie techniques I've had on my list to try for ages -
Faux Postage! Beate did a great tutorial on this over at Splitcoast - it's funny though, her sample shows postage as 37 cents. Ahhh, the good ol' days! I can't believe postage has gone up five cents since she wrote the tutorial!!! The cute little cupcake stamp I used on this is from the Michael's dollar bin! I cut them out and raised them up. The frosting is coated with glitter, and looks far more
dazzling in person!
That sentiment is from
Flourishes and is one of my favorites, I use it all the time. Of course I haven't used a single other stamp from that set yet...! I also took a photo of the goodies I'm giving away to one lucky participant this week!! I should have mentioned in the previous post, the deadline for getting in the drawing is 9pm CST Wednesday night, Feb 11. And if you don't have a blog, no worries! You can upload to
Splitcoast (use keyword FCCC) or just email me your card photo! I'll update the
original post with all of these details - don't forget to link your creations there!! Ok I better get this posted and get to bed, I'm about out of energy. :-) Thanks for stopping by!
