Good Stuff!

This has nothing to do with stamping (well, the first two anyway!) but I recently learned a couple things that were major "A-HA!" moments for me, so I thought I'd pass them along - maybe I'm just clueless and this is common knowledge to the rest of you, but I had no idea and learning these things has changed my life! LOL - ok maybe they aren't THAT exciting, but they are pretty cool. First of all - plastic wrap - you know how the roll always comes out of the box when you're trying to pull some off? Turns out there are little tabs on the ends of the box that you can push in to secure the roll - to keep it in the box. I HAD NO IDEA!!!! I checked all the boxes in my drawer - it's on this name brand stuff in the photo as well as some store brand that I bought, and on my aluminum foil, and on my parchment paper. I had NO CLUE! My MIL learned this one on Ellen and passed it along to me. :-) The next one - I cannot tell you how many times I've borrowed Joel's car, had to put gas in it, and didn't know which side it was on. Or rental cars. Or my own car when it was new (or when my brain was in a new mommy fog...!). Did you know... there is a little arrow indicating which side the gas tank is on right on the fuel gauge?!?!?!!?!? HELLO!!! I'm still blown away by this one. It just cracks me up that I NEVER noticed that until somebody told me about it. Did you know it was there?? Are you laughing at my stupidity now? ;-) And finally, this last one isn't quite the same sort of earth shattering revelation as the other two were for me in the past month or so... but I want to make sure you know about THE BEST blocks for stamping your unmounted rubber or clear stamps. They are from smARTworks and they are sooooo nice!! They just feel wonderful in your hands, nice and smooth - so unlike the cheapo blocks I've picked up in various other places. I treated myself to a whole big set of these for Christmas, and got some for my mom too. And they were just so pretty when they arrived and I unwrapped them all. Am I strange to think of acrylic blocks as pretty? WELL THEY WERE! Note I say 'were' - now I've used them and made them rather ugly...! Alright, I hope you've found some of this useful. :-) Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Libby: I learned the first two thingies about a year ago. The stamp blocks are new to me. I bought ONE a L-O-N-G time ago from some place I can't remember. It's not smARTworks though it is still very smooth to the touch and it is very easy on the hands. BUT it is only 2" x 2". I need a bigger one! LOL

  2. Libby,
I learned something new thanks to you. I never knew that there is an arrow to show which side your gas tank is on. I know about the tab but forget to push it in until I am frustrated with the item. One more thing to add to my wish list. I should stop reading your blog because I seem to get addicted to things you mention.

  3. Libby,
I knew about the gas arrow thingy from some blog I read about a year ago, but the other two items were great new items to add to my knowledge stash! Thanks. I think it is perfectly normal to feel that way about acryllic blocks by the way! ~chris

  8. Oh wow! I never knew about the gas tank thing!!!! And we have vehicles with them on both sides (and at the rear end...pull down the license plate to get to the filler)!! I did read about the plastic wrap, but only this summer (and haven't remembered to try).

  11. Hi Libby
I learned on Rachel Ray that if you store your plastic wrap in the freezer, it won't be as hard to unroll & stick it on to things! It really works!
