My Big Debut!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Today's the day I've been waiting for - for what has felt like FOREVER - my debut with The Play Date Cafe Challenge!! I am sooooooo happy and excited to be part of this team. Our fearless leader Julie Ranae is crazy organized, and all the team members are so nice and talented and all-around fabulous! But enough of my gushing, let's get to the card:


I wish you could see this card IRL, it has a pretty shimmer to it. I stamped the sand dollar from the new Hero Arts set Fish & Shells repeatedly with different shades of Distress Ink, then spritzed it with Glimmer Mist.


The little seahorse charm - it used to be brass but I wanted silver to match the PDCC colors, so I coated it with Versamark and silver embossing powder and heat set it! Voila! Instant perfect charm. :-)


Here's the beautiful color story Julie created for us to work with this week. The colors immediately made me think seashore, so that's why I pulled out the shells.

  • Stamps: CL486 Fish & Shells, CG125 Friend Definition, CL497 Find Joy from Hero Arts
  • Paper: Archiver's blue, some awesome woodgrain paper from my stash, watercolor paper
  • Ink: Distress Inks (Vintage Photo, Tea Dye, Antique Linen, Pumice Stone, Broken China, Tumbled Glass), Versamark
  • Accessories: Glimmer Mist (Iridescent Gold), silver EP, seahorse charm, ribbon, American Crafts caramel twine, SU scallop edge punch, machine stitching

    LOVE LOVE LOVE this seaside inspired card Libby!!! LOVE how you repeated the stamp image..I never do that! THANKS for the inspiration to try this technique:)

    Libby! Its fantastic!! LOVE the soft water colory feel and I can almost feel the soft breeze of the ocean. You captured these colors in such a soft and serene way, truly beautiful!

Wish I could play this week, but I'm in the midst of packing and then driving for 2 days, and then unpacking - I can enjoy the online projects, though.     A beautiful design and fabulous use of the colors, Libby! I adore glimmer mist as it gives such a wonderful sheen and really adds charm. You've done a wonderful job for your first challenge...doesn't look to me like it was a challenge for you at all! Yay you!

    LIbby, I love the softness of these sand dollars, in a kind of 'watery' way. It's like we're looking at them through a shallow bit of sea water. Very pretty!

    Libby, this is wonderful! Great use of the colors! Love the stamped backgroud with text print. Your sewing looks amazing and I even see added texture surrounding the stitched frame. Beautifully detailed!
