Hello! Today I'm hopping with Hero Arts as the Color Layering 2016 collection is added to the Hero Arts store. This is probably the most exciting release I've ever been a part of! Why, you ask? Well!! Take a look at page 7 of the catalog!!
That's meeeeee!! For this release, Hero Arts invited their artists to champion the Color Layering stamp sets, and determine their favorite mix of ink colors to use with the stamps. I chose the Color Layering Orchid in a Pot, and of course, my colors were purples and greens!! So now there's an ink cube 4-pack with my name on it!! Libby's Purple Garden!! How incredibly cool is that?! I'm geeking out over here, I'm not gonna lie. :)
If you love my combo, you can find Libby's Purple Garden in the Hero Arts store, along with the stamps and dies. Or, we've even put them all together into a Color Layering Orchid in a Pot Bundle! Easy peasy, and saves a little money, too.
I created two cards with my ink choices and stamp set for this catalog. In both cases I paired them with Foliage Bold Prints. The background was stamped on olive cardstock using the Moss ink cube. On this first card, the darker flower centers were achieved by stamping the final flower layer with VersaMark ink, and embossing with clear embossing powder. There's also the message embossed in gold.
For this second card, I borrowed a brilliant idea from my friend Jayne (shared on the Hero Arts blog HERE!) and turned the orchid into a flowering tree branch. I love this look, it's so pretty! And brings more versatility to this stamp set, too. For this card I only stamped two layers of the flowers, and then added a dot of gold glitter glue to the flower centers.

ReplyDeleteMy mother grew orchids in a greenhouse that my father built for her, attached to the side of the house. There were so many varieties and colors in there! The colors in this set are beautiful, and there are endless possibilities with all of the color layering cubes!
