Hello and welcome to another My Monthly Hero blog hop!! This month's kit is all about travel, and it is so much fun! There's a cool die for making a luggage tag, other little dies with a million uses, a great stamp set, awesome paper leather from Sizzix (I am mad about this stuff!!), a little journal to decorate, fun washi tape and geotag clips, and more! Such a bunch of fun for $29.99!
There have been a bunch of fabulous travel-themed ideas for using this kit, but I wanted to play with it in a different way! Once I started creating I couldn't stop, so I have three ideas to share today!
For this first card, I painted a bit of the paper leather with some acrylic paint. It's amazing how the texture still stays nice and pliable, even after painting with acrylics! Once it was dry, I die cut the painted paper with the little heart from the kit.
The dimension is so much fun! And it stays a bit more stiff and durable than regular paper. I just attached them with a tiny dab of adhesive, then stitched down each row with my sewing machine. The message is made with the stamps included in the kit.
Next, I wanted to play with the paper leather using the Hero Arts Delicate Petals stencil! The paper leather will take the texture from the stencil wonderfully when you run it through your machine with the correct stack. In the Big Shot, you open the platform to Tab 1, put done a base plate, then the stencil, paper leather, Silicone Rubber and then Impressions Pad. I love that I can use all of the Hero Arts stencils this way!!
I cut the stenciled leather paper with the fun luggage tag die included in the kit, and then added lots of Distress Ink (Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers, Vintage Photo). I paired it with an mage I had watercolored from Stamp Your Own Cactus, and a message from the kit. I love the ginormous Heidi Swapp sequins!!
Finally, I had to use the adorable little martini stamp that's included in the stamp set! I made a dreamy watercolor background using Daniel Smith paints, Distress Inks (Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers) and one of my favorite things - Hero Arts gold shimmer spray!
The message is one of my favorites, from my Kelly's No Comment set from Hero Arts. Because you know, sometimes mama just does! :)
I'm the last stop on an awesome blog hop today - be sure to visit everyone on the list, and comment along the way to enter the drawing for a free June kit! Woohoo!
