Carter Getting Crafty - Children's Challenge #22

Yesterday Carter was hanging out in my room while I was stamping, and wanted to work on a project too. He mentioned wanting to make a card with bugs on it, and then he remembered the Children's Challenge Corner, which he had played in the past. So we hopped on over there for a look, and would you believe - the challenge this week is insects?!?! How crazy is that??? So of course Carter had to make a card!

I have a set of bug stamps that would have been perfect, but alas they are packed away. Instead, Carter chose to draw some bugs of his own. Which I have to admit, I prefer anyway. I love his drawings. :-) The spider he drew is of course the cutest spider I've ever seen - and how about that orange head on that ladybug (who has about a zillion legs) - love it!!

Here's my boy hard at work, sitting on the floor next to my desk...

And proud of his finished work.

Thank you to Emma, Anna, Ethan, Aaron and Owen for another fun challenge!

And thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Halloween!

I thought I better get this card posted before it's no longer Halloween, ha! I adore Halloween images and I'm bummed that, once again, I didn't find enough time to create a ton of cards with them (because believe me, I own a ton!). But I did manage to make a fun little bat card...

The wings fold in, how cute is that?

I saw this card in a magazine and found the pattern on the Better Homes & Gardens website. Inside my bat I included my favorite little Hambo digi image - Wee Henry Vampire! Isn't he adorable?? I love vampires and I love bats. I'm very strange that way. :-)

Speaking of loving bats - my boy is crazy for bats these days! As a matter of fact, one of these days his mommy is going to hang a whole bunch of bats from the ceiling of his bedroom so he can live in his own Bat Cave...! So when he saw my little bat pattern, he wanted to make one too! Which was perfect, since we wanted to play along with the latest Children's Challenge, which was to make a Halloween themed card!

Like the dots on his nose? He was using a chocolate-scented black marker and got a little carried away with the sniffing, LOL!

And here's my little Batman himself. This was on Friday, when they dressed up to go to preschool. There was never any doubt who Carter wanted to go as! He's already talking about his plan for next year's costume, too - Robin. We'll see if that changes in the next year... :-)

Thanks for stopping by!

Crafting with Carter!

Yesterday my son Carter told me he wanted to do an art project, so I thought it was the perfect time to do something I've been wanting to do for ages (but of course keep forgetting) - I told him about the Children's Challenge Corner!

Children's Challenge Corner

The current challenge for kids is to make a card with animals. Carter loves animals more than just about anything, so it was perfect! I pulled out a bunch of his supplies - paper, ink, an old stamp set that's now part of HIS stash, scissors, markers, glue - and encouraged him to create whatever he felt like making. Here he is hard at work:

After a while he got really sick of me asking him to look at the camera...

And here's his finished card!

I suggested he write "hello" on it, and then we could mail it to someone. He decided to add "Carter" because writing your own name is about the most fun thing there is when you're four! And as for the mailing - sadly he's just like his mommy, he opted to hoard the card. It's now hanging on his bedroom wall! Which is cool, actually - shows he's proud of it. :-)

Big thanks to Julie, Emma, Anna, Ethan, Aaron & Owen for giving us this fun challenge to do! We love your blog - such a wonderful idea.
