Ok, this one *WAS* a challenge!!

Tonight I decided to try this week's Cupcake Challenge from Taylor's blog (TECC11) - it was a color challenge this time, to use Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise, Gable Green and Soft Sky. Taylor doesn't require that you use a cupcake on your card, but encourages it - so I thought I'd ink up another little cupcake from my Hero Arts set that hadn't yet touched an ink pad. Well - first of all, I don't love this color combo (sorry Taylor!) and second, this isn't really my first choice for cupcake colors!! So I really struggled to come up with something. But that's good - it wouldn't have really been a challenge otherwise, right?? I also decided to go with a sketch challenge for this, and picked Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge (WSC43). For a while now I've been itching to try cutting out and popping up various parts of an image, I love how cool this added dimension looks on a card - and Alli sent me over the edge and made me have to try it today with this awesome post! I had to break out my liquid applique for the frosting (with a little Dazzling Diamonds because lately I can't make a card without glitter!) and the sentiment is from a really great Hero Arts set called Anytime Messages I picked up at Archivers a while ago. Thanks for stopping by today!! Be sure to stay tuned this week - my blogoversary is coming up on FRIDAY!!! I plan to unveil my redesigned blog and of course also thank you all for a great year with some candy! Woo hoo!

  7. I think it's awesome that you are doing the challenges...I always want to...but never seem to find the time.

I actually like the color combo...maybe if you switched the orange and the green areas so the green was the secondary color and the orange was only an accent???

I LOVE what you did with cutting out and popping up the images.
