From Courtney's Closet #24 - an inspiration challenge

Welcome to another edition of From Courtney's Closet! If you're new to my blog, each week (give or take a few!) I dress my baby girl up in a cute little outfit, take her photo, and make a card inspired by what she was wearing. You can see all of the past weeks here. Today I decided it had been quite a while since Courtney got all dressed up for a card! Today's she's wearing her latest party dress - isn't it fabulous?? This one just shouted at me from the rack at Walmart - "Buy me! Buy me!" I'm not entirely sure where Courtney is going to actually wear this dress, other than for this photo!! It's pretty fancy for our usual routine, and it's not Christmasy. Hmm. Oh well, who could resist such a sweet dress?? If you could, you are a better person than me. :-) Searching through my stamps to use tonight, I remembered this old Stampin' Up hostess set and thought it would be rather perfect! I used three different colors of markers to color the flowers on the skirt, and then painted a little Shimmerz Pink Poinsettia Blingz in between the flowers. This is my latest toy!! Pamela is carrying these little pots of goodness now, so I had to get one (or so...) to play with. Me luuuvvvv it! It's so shimmery and pretty!! I tried to take a second photo to capture the shine, of course it was difficult - but you get the idea! Yummy stuff! So anyway... does this week's dress inspire you?? I am sorry to go with pink two weeks in a row, believe it or not I *try* to avoid that sort of thing - but I just couldn't wait to show you this dress!! So if you are inspired and head to your stamp space to create something, by all means please let me know about it!! If you upload on Splitcoast please use keyword FCCC. Last week's pink monkey shirt inspired some ADORABLE cards!! This may be my favorite week of cards so far, they all made me smile so much!!
Sue used the Cuttlekid monkey die - isn't it to die for?? And I love that she put the same flower brad behind her monkey's ear that I used on my card!My challenge inspired Karen to drive all over the Maine coast looking for a monkey stamp - which makes me feel both bad and cool all at the same time. :-) She isn't thrilled with what she finally came up with, but I think it's completely adorable!!Anita's daugther Katie didn't have a monkey stamp to use either, but rather than shopping she chose to be inspired by the colors and used other animals instead. Remember there are no rules to inspiration challenges - whatever YOU find inspiring is what you should go with! Super cute cards Katie!Jenn also didn't have any monkey stamps, but improvised with stickers and other embellishments, and the results are super duper cute!!Katie's card is so sweet with the cute monkey and all the wonderful texture and buttons. I also love the sentiment she used, because that's exactly how I feel both about my sweet baby girl, and also about all of you who actually play this challenge!Kathryn's monkey card is so stinkin' cute it hurts. LOL Ok nothing really hurts, but sometimes I just run out of things to say about these cards - I can only think of so many ways to say cute, sweet or adorable... :-) Love your card Kathryn! And though it was a very tough call, this week my favorite card has to be Monica's!! For one thing, she's my Hambo boss and I need to throw her a bone every now and then so she'll continue to send me free stamps. HA! Kidding of course, I love her card because it's absolutely adorable!! And super creative - she used a fingerprint stamp to make her little monkeys! I think the funny lips on the last monkey is what I love most. Plus she really captured the "silly" aspect of Courtney's little shirt. Yay Monica! I'll put a little goodie in the mail to you. (but please do not be too eager to get it, I'm two challenges behind now on mailing out goodies, not to mention a whole stack of RAKs... sigh...) :-)Thanks everyone for playing this week!! And thanks to the rest of you for stopping by today!!

  1. What a beautiful picture of Courtney, she looks like a little angel (which I am sure she is)! I know what you mean anout not being able to resist those pretty dresses, I almost caved and bought one yesterday myself, but went for the little nighties instead (with sock monkeys on them)! I hope I can find time to get back to playing these fun challenges again and maybe even do some of the past ones. Give that sweet baby a big hug!

  2. No No No! Courtney is growing up too fast! I like the silly monkey version of her and not the prim & proper "big kid"... although she DOES look adorable in her party dress. I love your new challenge card, although I don't know if I have any suitable stamps. Hmmmm....

Thank you for throwing me a bone (or a banana, as it were) and choosing my card this week! I'm especially honored because there are so many great cards this week, and it reminds me that I have those CB monkeys too that I'd forgotten all about! Guess I'll have to play more.

    Great job ladies!

  6. What?!?!! I already missed the monkey challenge--where did the week go? I was going to play! I *love* the new dress and I'm with you, I couldn't pass it up, even if she doesn't have any where to go in it...hmmm. That may be a good excuse for everyone to dress up!

I love the card you chose--those monkeys are so cute! I like the embellie at the bottom of the card too! So creative!

I need a challenge calendar of sorts. I don't want the week to fly by without remembering!!

  9. Courtney looks so grown up in that picture! What did you use to trace around the outside of the dress on the card? I'm still trying to find just the right product and color to use around my images.

  15. I saw your comment on my mom's blog, www.nelliesnest.blogspot.com, about hoping there is snow in Michigan for Christmas when you visit! I don't think you should worry about that! It is coming down heavy & we rarely have a shortage of it! I think I am the only one who LOVES it! It's gorgeous!! Love the cards and kid pics! :)

  22. Courtney is looking like such a proper little lady this week! I can see how you couldn't resist that dress. I think it would be cute for Christmas because I love pink Christmas cards. I'm sure you'll find something new and irresistable for Christmas, though. Last week's cards are GREAT! I love all those monkey stamps. I really wanted to play that one because I have a super cute gorilla stamp. I was so inspired but inspiration aside, I didn't have time. I need to focus...
