Wildflower Week!

Hi y'all! Spring has sprung here in central Texas! I've been meaning to post this for a few weeks now but it just hasn't fit into the posting schedule - a few weeks ago my favorite spring event happened - I saw my first bluebonnet of the season!! The Texas Bluebonnet is our state flower, and it just *means* spring to me! Some years the sides of the roads are just covered with them, it's a beautiful sight! Unfortunately we've had too much drought in recent years to get that kind of display, but I'm happy just to see random clumps of them along the road! :-) And because these little blue beauties put such a smile on my face, I've decided to dedicate this week to bluebonnets, wildflowers and all things Texas! I hope you don't mind! Especially those of you in cold weather states - I hope this will just brighten your day and not make you hate me. :-) Today's card features a bluebonnet stamp and sentiment from Deadbeat Designs, which I picked up at my LSS. I colored directly on the stamp with my SU markers for this - stamping off the background bluebonnets, then stamping those in the foreground at "full strength". :-) I added the white part of the flowers with a gel pen. The sketch was one of Taylor's, a few weeks back. Thanks for looking today, and may YOUR days be filled with wildflowers too!
  • Stamps: Deadbeat Designs
  • Paper: Kraft, Night of Navy, Brocade Blue, To the Nines DP (SU)
  • Ink: Night of Navy ink pad, Night of Navy & Always Artichoke markers
  • Accessories: White gel pen, Scallop Edge punch, Michael's ribbon

  1. Very pretty! When we drove to Dallas there were many patches of bluebonnets along the way! Maybe we'll be as lucky going to San Antonio!

  7. Libby - Your card is beautiful. I'm lovin' all these beautiful bluebonnets. I hope the rain this week keeps them coming. Reminds me of all the years we dragged our kids out to sit in the middle of them for pix. I love the tiled look of your card. Can't wait to see what else blooms in your blog this week.
