Today the boys in the Tour made their way through the final stage in the Pyrenees mountains this summer, thrilling us with five rated climbs. I love mountains stages - the epic battles on the bike, the magnificent scenery, and the FANS!! Yes, sometimes the fans are rather insane up there on the mountains, but I just love to see them. It never fails to make me smile. Someday... someday... I will be one of those fans! So today, my card features my take on those crazy mountaintop fans, all cheering for their favorite riders...
The stamp is Line Up from Stampotique Originals - I adore these little critters, the looks on their faces are priceless! We have the GC fan in his yellow jersey, yelling for the boys to "Allez!". We have the king of the mountains jersey fan, dreaming of polka dots. The fan of the sprinters expresses what no doubt every sprinter is thinking on a stage with five big climbs. And the white jersey has a happy, peaceful look on his face thinking about their current leader adding excitement to this year's tour (and as my friend Moniera pointed out - the one with a lot of heart!).
I used a chevron die to mimic the mountains and added a lot of dimension with foam tape. The white jersey also has a bit of glitter, because everything's better with glitter.
This is a photo I snapped today with my tv on pause as they reached the final summit of the day. The sea of humanity that the riders have to make their way through is just incredible. And funny I happened to pause it on a guy in a speedo - the clothing (optional) choices made in the mountains always crack me up... those crazy Europeans!
Tomorrow's a rest day in the Tour de France, but never fear, there are no rest days in the Tour de Craft! I'll see you back here tomorrow. :-)
