Happy Pyrenees Day!! Today the Tour de France reaches the mountains, and I am downright giddy. Sprint stages are fine and all, but I love the battles up the mountains. And I especially love mountaintop finishes, like today atop Ax 3 Domaines! Before that final climb of the day, there's a monster mountain along the route, Col de Pailheres. I think I read that it's the highest mountain of this year's Tour. It's an "HC" or "beyond category" climb - that's right, it's so freakin' steep it's BEYOND the normal categories. LOL! Woohoo, Vive le Tour!!
Today's card is a tribute to my love for mountain stages and the GC contenders. (GC are the guys who are trying to be the overall winner of the Tour. The sprinters are the fastest cyclists on the planet over a short amount of road, but to win the GC and wear yellow in Paris you also have to be able to climb mountains. Sprinters struggle in the mountains.) (There's a little Tour trivia for you cardmakers who couldn't care less, LOL!) This card's a very simple, one-layer CAS card - not my usual comfort zone but I like how this turned out. I created a heart mask from printer paper, and placed it over my card front while stamping the Hero Arts bicycle. I was inspired by this awesome bicycle art! Just another bike in black, a bit of road-print washi tape and some letter stickers and BAM! Cute card. :-)
Ok I'm off to watch some boys on bikes climb up mountains. Thanks for stopping by today!
Also used: Washi Tape from Michael's, letter stickers from Studio Calico kit
