Head on over the Melanie's blog to see the full cards. And huge thanks again to Melanie for the opportunity to play with this wonderful set!
By the way, did you hear the exciting news that Melanie has published her first book?? My copy of "A Year of Flowers" is on the way to my mailbox, yay! I know you'll want to order one for yourself!
Hi everyone! I'm so excited to share some happy news today - the fabulous Melanie Muenchinger, illustrator for Gina K. Designs and all-around sweet and talented stamper, asked me to do a guest design spot for one of her latest sets, Make a State-ment!! It's such a FUN FUN FUN set for people like me who love to roadtrip across the country, I completely squealed when I saw it! I have a bunch more ideas for this set, but Melanie is featuring a few of my designs starting today, so head on over to her blog, Hands, Head, Heart, and take a peek! Thanks so much for inviting me, Melanie!
A week or so ago, Melanie Muenchinger asked me if I'd like to join her and some of her other past guest designers & friends in a little blog hop, highlighting some of Melanie's stamp sets for Gina K Designs. Since I happen to think Melanie is out of this world, I happily said "YES!".
I was honored when Melanie asked me to guest design with her wonderful Wee Tees set over a year ago! You can see all of my other Wee Tees cards HERE - I had lots of fun with them! For today's card, I had planned to make a sweet little baby girl card. I even NEED a baby card to send to a new mommy. But then I started looking through various blogs for inspiration, and the latest Play Date Cafe "colour splash" challenge made me think of Melanie's CUTE little flying saucer image.
Black and white with a splash of color. The specified color splash is GREEN! A splash of green? How about a little green alien?? hee hee!
For the sketch I played along with the CPS challenge:
One fun detail I wanted to point out - I used a little Ranger Glossy Accents for the "bubble" on the flying saucers, and added a little Diamond Stickles for zing.
Melanie asked several other designers to share cards tonight as well, please make sure and check out what they did!
Thanks for all the sweet comments yesterday, they made my day! :-) And now I have to say... while yesterday's card made me grumpy, today's makes me very happy!!
Fun, yes? Can you see what the background is? It says repeatedly "Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." Ring any bells? Why yes of course, that's Matthew Broderick's line in Ferris Bueller's Day Off! hee hee
But I decided to seize the day, just as Ferris would, and make the card anyway! I thought that line was sorta fitting with a bicycle. Because they go fast too. But more on that in a sec, I also want to mention that this card played along with the latest Taylored Expressions sketch, turned on it's side.
AND... bicycles are the Moxie Fab World challenge right now! Yay!!! I love this theme so much, I hope to make at least one more bicycle card before the challenge ends - you should too!
I already had cycling on my brain because while I was on vacation a few weeks back, I got to watch a stage in the Tour of California bike race!!! Some of you have already read this, but I'm going to repost from my family blog here...
On Sunday we drove up to Thousand Oaks for the 8th and final stage of this year's Amgen Tour of California bike race! I've been a big cycling fan since 1999, when a guy from Austin started winning the Tour de France. It was so exciting to see a cycling event live and in person! I had no idea what to expect at the starting line - turns out fans could wander around the parking lot with the team buses and wait for a peek at favorite riders. How cool! We opted to hang out by the Team RadioShack bus. We were surprised how we were able to get in so close to see the cyclists - Joel pointed out it may not have been so easy if Lance hadn't crashed out of the race a few days earlier...!
We saw Popo...
And Jason McCartney (I took this one for Lisa!)...
Jani Brajkovic (who I've learned, thanks to Twitter, has THE CUTEST little boy!!)...
A roughed up Chechu - he had crashed a few days earlier with Lance, but stuck around to finish the race. I had read he "had no skin left" - ouch!
And Levi - yay! This photo cracks me up, it's like the kid is saying "Can I touch you?".
Carter & Courtney have a new favorite - Team Jelly Belly!! And yes, they were handing out free samples! We also got some free t-shirts from Team RadioShack, yay!
The ceremonial starting line...
After the starting line we had lunch then found a spot along the route to watch them fly by. As you can tell, Carter and Courtney were so excited... (ha ha)
Here come the leaders, George Hincapie is supposed to be one of these?
And the peloton. Recognize anyone? They went by so fast...
And the cars, rounding out the "cycling parade".
YAY! Fun day. Now let's hope I watch a live stage of the Tour de France someday... :-)
And my dear stamping friends, thanks for bearing with me as I just relived that day once again! :-)

Melanie Muenchinger is celebrating two years of blogging and illustrating for Gina K Designs, and today she has invited 25 designers and YOU to join the party! First, hop through the blogs of the designers' listed below, using every set she has created since January 2008, from the first to the 25th! Then go to Melanie's blog to leave a comment for a chance to win a number of different prizes!
I was lucky enough to be asked by Melanie to be one of her guests back in April 2009 for her wonderful WEE TEES set!! I absolutely adore this set, it's so adorable!! You can see all of the designs I created as Melanie's guest here. For this hop, I already had Valentine's Day on the brain, so that was a little part of the inspiration for this baby love card:The heart and "love" actually come from another one of Melanie's fabby sets, Little Tee's. See all of those tiny buttons at the bottom? They are handmade and completely scrumptious, I found them on Etsy in Tessa Ann's wonderful button shop. They actually inspired me to try button-making for myself - I'll show you the results of that soon! :-)
And here's another sweet baby card made with Wee Tees: So now let's start hopping! Remember, check back in with Melanie at the end for a shot at the prizes!!
Finally, Nina and Jessica from the GinaK Senior Design Team have joined in, too! You can also get in on the hop yourself and increase your chances of winning a prize by creating your own projectwith any one of Melanie's sets and linking it in the Mr. Linky in her post, see full details here. Hope you can join the fun! Enjoy your first hop of the year!
Believe it or not, today's card is inspired by another one of my Tour de France cyclists! What, you're thinking it looks a little too precious to be inspired by a guy on a bike? Well let me explain. :-) I have a new favorite cyclist!! Ok, no, not favorite, I haven't already changed my mind since yesterday (LOL!) but I guess I have a new second favorite...! I have to tell you a little story. During the Tour I became a bit of a Twitter fanatic. It turns out you can "follow" famous people on there - read their thoughts about what's going on - it's pretty cool! And I figured out I could follow a bunch of my favorite cyclists. So that was a whole fun new aspect to the Tour for me, reading "behind the scenes" thoughts on everything. If you're not familiar with Twitter, you can actually reply to these famous people too. I did it a couple times but felt like a big goofball - because really, like they care what *I* have to say, right?? But sometimes I just couldn't help myself...! So on Saturday, I was sitting here at the computer messing around, reading all the updates after the *AWESOME* stage on Mont Ventoux, when I see Cadel Evans share a photo that I thought was funny. I know, most of you stamper friends don't know who Cadel Evans is... he's one of the top riders, although this year's Tour did not go all that well for him (poor Cadel!). So I make a silly reply to him... AND OMG HE REPLIED BACK TO ME!!!!! I nearly spewed my water, and immediately had to IM Lydia and tell her about it (since she has held my hand as I've come up to speed on this new-fangled invention...). Here's a screen shot (read from the bottom up):I don't know if you understand how exciting this was for me. One of my cycling gods, basically having a (ridiculousy short) online conversation with me?!!? OMG! You know how geeked out I get about meeting stamping celebrities - it's like that! I ran into the livingroom to tell my hubby, and he just gave me this blank stare. Doesn't get it. *sigh* But at least Lydia shared my excitement. By the way - the fact that the conversation with one of my cycling gods involves me admitting I eat crap and look awful - um, not ideal. Even a little mortifying. But oh well, I'll take it!!! LOL!
So the card... you're wondering how on earth this is inspired by Cadel Evans, right? First of all he's Australian, so I got out this sweet koala from one of my favorite Melanie Muenchinger sets for Gina K - Cuddles & Hugs. I found a great tutorial on Melanie's blog for coloring the koala, to give it a soft & fluffy look (thanks Mel for being so awesome and helpful as always!!). I chose the main colors of the card - red & black - because those are the colors of the Silence Lotto team Cadel rode for this year. The sentiment - not that I'm actually going to send this to him, but he is Down Under, indeed across the miles. I actually would like to send hugs & smiles to him though - I think he's probably gotten a little beaten up over this Tour, and I hope it's not completely getting him down. He's an amazing athlete, no matter what happened for 3 weeks (or really just a couple of bad days!) in July. I'm totally going to be rooting for him next year, now more than ever!! Since he's my BTF and all (HA!) (Plus, I was poking around on his website, he seems rather smart and cares about some important things - I like those traits in a cyclist!) :-) The sketch for this card was inspired by the latest challenge on StampTV, although I didn't stay completely true to it. I have to tell you about the ribbon I used - it was part of the packaging on a set of Christmas washclothes. Lydia would also be proud of me for reanimating that! (as I imagine Cadel might be, too) ;-)
Ok, I promise - no more posts boring you all about cycling stuff. For a little while, anyway! :-) Thanks for stopping by today! And thanks to Cadel for giving this stamping stay at home mom cycling fan a thrill. :-D

Happy Tuesday everyone! I was looking through my files, and I don't think I ever shared this card here on the ol' blog! It's another one I made for Melanie to feature on her awesome blog when I was her Wee Tees guest designer last month. I paired Wee Tees with another one of my favorite Melanie sets for Gina K, Cuddles and Hugs. I just love that kitty image - it's one of the reasons I simply could not resist this set when it came out! (that, and the flamingos, and the lions, and...) :-) I thought this particular sentiment in Wee Tees was just too cute - so my idea was that the kitties are supposed to be like big brother and little sister.
Alrighty, I need to do a little more cleaning around the house and then head to the airport - my parents are coming in today for a visit! My dad (aka Papa!) will be here for a week, but my mom (aka Grammy!) is staying until July 7th! Woohoo! They live in Michigan and don't get to see their grandkids as much as any of us would like, so Carter and Courtney are so looking forward to this - Courtney doesn't say many words yet, but "Papa" is all she's been saying this week!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Hello and welcome to my From Courtney's Closet one year anniversary celebration!!!! One year ago last week I posted my first outfit-inspired card, not having any idea that I'd still be doing it a year later, or that several awesome ladies would feel inspired enough to play along, and in the process become some of my best blogging buddies!! I'm so happy that it's played out the way it has. That you enjoy this challenge. And that you put up with my often erratic posting schedule! :-) I had completely meant to post this last week, on the ACTUAL one year anniversary, but I suffered from some post-vacation loss of mojo, not to mention that even though it's very simple, this ended up taking me much longer to put together than I had anticipated!! But better late than never? I hope??
So let me get to the details - I cannot celebrate one year of this challenge without sharing some happiness with all of you!! As you know I've been Melanie's guest designer this month for her adorable Gina K set Wee Tees - a set that was absolutely MADE for me and my love of baby clothes!! I thought it would be fun to take a year's worth of Courtney photos and make a Wee Tee onesie decorated to match each photo! I found a little 4x6 photo album in the dollar spot at Target, which I will decorate and slide each of these pages into. I will show you once I've finished that last step - I just didn't want to wait any longer with what I *do* have done!! :-)
For this week's challenge - you are welcome to choose ANY of the twelve months as your inspiration!! Just mention in your post which month it is, in case it's not obvious (hee hee). I will put everyone who plays into a hat and randomly draw a winner - who will receive a Wee Tees set of your very own!!! (or if you've already rushed out to buy Wee Tees, then a different Gina K set of equal value) Sound good?? You are welcome to do more than one month, I will enter you as many times as you play along.
Wait, there's more!! I will have a second contest - some of the photos below have been featured in the past on From Courtney's Closet. Do you know how many of them?? SEND ME AN EMAIL (do not post your guess below!!!) to stampinlibby at gmail dot com, with FCCC GUESS as the subject (I'm setting up an email filter, so make sure and do this or I may miss your guess!!) and put your guess in the email, and I will draw a winner for a smaller RAK from me from all the correct entries!! (You don't have to say WHICH months, just guess a number!) :-)
As usual I will also say who made my "favorite" card, and that person will get my featured badge for their sidebar, if they want it!
So here we go... a year worth of Courtney... sorry this post is so long...!! :-)
1 Month - looking at her brother in awe. This cute outfit was from my sweet friend Leslie, and actually had owls all over it - but this teddy bear is just too cute so I couldn't resist using it instead!2 Months - my little Cupcake in her first of many cupcake outfits! I loved the lace "frosting" on this one!3 Months - for this onesie I drew the stripes with my markers and a ruler, and freehanded the little elephants.4 Months - again I drew the cherries, as I'm sure you can tell!! LOL!5 Months - sweet as a bug!6 Months - sitting on her own, I just love that big grin!!7 Months - enjoying the sun on a pier in Cape Cod. This flower is from the Stampin' Up ABC Images set, which has so many stamps that work well with Wee Tees!8 Months - in the pumpkin patch! Again I'm sure you can tell I drew that pumpkin! :-)9 Months - I tried drawing a monkey, but it was Not Good. :-) So I used Changito instead.10 Months - eating blackberries for the first time! I love her messy face, but I'm not thrilled that I had such an UGLY bib on her for this photo!! The baby food jar is also from ABC Images.11 Months - my sweet little snow bunny!!! The bunny stamp is from Inkadinkado.12 Months - HAPPY BIRTHDAY COURTNEY!! Again, cupcake from ABC Images. My plan is to also add some journaling about what happened each month in the empty space at the top right on each page.
So there you have it!! I hope you'll play along!! I'm actually going to leave this open for another TWO WEEKS - so you have until Wednesday June 3 at 9pm CST to play along!!
Happy Stamping!!! And truly, thanks for reading my blog!!! Please scroll down below Mr. Linky to see my favorite from the previous challenge!!
(I'M SORRY TO SAY MR. LINKY HAS DISABLED MY WIDGET DUE TO HIS SERVER OVERLOAD ISSUES - SO PLEASE DO IT THE OLD FASHIONED WAY AND INCLUDE YOUR LINK IN THE COMMENTS! THANKS!!)
And now... at looooong last... my favorite from Week 41, which was three weeks ago!! It was tough, all the cards were adorable, I debated for a while - but my favorite was this cutie from Katie Autore! It just made me smile when I looked at it, I just love that little monkey stuffing his face with that cupcake!! And since both "Cupcake" and "Little Monkey" are among the many, many nicknames I have for Courtney, I loved that too. And - the cherries that Katie punched out herself, such a cute addition to the card. Katie is a long-time FCCC player, and I'm always so thrilled when she joins! Her and mama Anita are the coolest mother-daughter blogging team I know, I sure hope Courtney and I are like that someday! :-) Katie send me an email if you want the "featured" badge and I'll send it to you asap! And thanks everyone for playing last time!
Yay!! I finally stamped something! Were you starting to think all I'd ever post about again was blog awards and websites?? I was having a seriously difficult time finding the mojo / ambition / energy / whatever to even ENTER my stamp room!! Not good. But yesterday I was able to avoid my family the entire day (is it terrible that I like days like that??) and spend some time organizing and clearing the MASSIVE amount of clutter off of my desk and floor (I even found some stamps I forgot that I had ordered - SCORE!) and when I sat down to that nice, clean desk, I was able to stamp. YAY!! I decided to ink up one of my (MANY!) stamps that have never been used. This is yet another one that I *absolutely had to have* as soon as it was released - I adore orchids, and this stamp is soooooo pretty! It's part of the Gina K Botanical Dreams set, designed by Asela Hopkins. The rest of the set is gorgeous too, but I'll admit I bought the entire thing pretty much just to get this one image!! Well ok, this is funny - I just looked at the set online so I could link it up, and I now remember that I also bought it for that awesome Henry David Thoreau quote, yet when I made this card last night I somehow didn't even notice it!!! Aaaaaah! I used a similar sort of quote from a Hero Arts set, because I had decided this would be a graduation card (I have several graduates to send cards to this year!). That is just too funny, I'm such a dope sometimes! Anyway... I decided that not all graduation cards have to include caps and gowns and diplomas. There's nothing wrong with making a pretty orchid card for a graduate! Don't you agree?? The background is a Top Note die cutout that I received as a RAK from Anita a while back - it was white, but I colored it with a Copic marker. The marker is on the verge of drying out, so the coverage wasn't great - which created a really cool effect, that looks sorta like suede! Sadly you can't really see just how pretty this card is - I'm *HOPING* this will be the last terrible card photo I post on here - because today Mr. Brown is SUPPOSED TO be bringing me a brand new light box thingie for taking card photos of my very own!!! I'm so excited!! My dear hubby ordered me one for Mother's Day, isn't that awesome??!?! But it was delivered while we were in San Diego, and apparently somebody STOLE IT from our front doorstep!!! Isn't that TERRIBLE?!?! But thankfully whoever he ordered it from was super, duper cool and sent out a replacement. Which should be here TODAY! Yay. :-) Ok... better post this... I'm rambling and having a hard time even following my own thoughts because my brother is IM'ing me about Twitter as I type this. Blogging, IM, Twitter - don't I sound like I'm just on top of all the social networking stuff? I'm so hip. (HA!) Thanks for stopping by today. :-)
Stamps: Botanical Dreams from Gina K Designs, Anytime Messages from Hero Arts
I'm in a major mojo-less funk over here, and still have nothing new to show you!! I am so bummed because I'm completely late on my Courtney's Closet anniversary celebration! Waaah! Well after I post this, my plan is to head into the stamp room and CLEAN, because the disaster area I've created in there sucks out any mojo I can muster everytime I go in there! It's awful!! Then maybe once my space is clean, I'll feel like cranking out some handstamped goodness? Anyway - this is the card I made for Melanie to post on her blog last week. I pretty much cracked myself up as I made it. It's what I wish for all mom-to-be's, really - to have a nice BABY! hee hee And if anyone is at all interested, I've finished blogging all seven days of our San Diego vacation on my family blog, you can look at it here. :-) Thanks for stopping by today, I do hope I will come out of this funk SOON! I've only managed to create one new card in the last two weeks! EEEEK! What's wrong with me???
Here's the last of the scheduled posts for this week, and it's another Wee Tees card! Can you tell I adore this set?? This time I felt like going very pretty and girlie. I forced myself to stop hoarding my pearls on this one and used a bunch! The little hanger is really made from wire - no, of course I didn't bend the wire to form that myself!! You give me way too much credit! ;-) I found those little gems at a friend's craft garage sale, I knew they'd come in handy sooner or later...
Even though I'm not posting a From Courtney's Closet challenge today, I thought I'd still post a card inspired by my baby girl! But, unfortunately I can't show you *how* this was inspired by my baby girl!! I had this entire cute post planned, where I'd make a little video to share - but of course Little Miss Thing would NOT cooperate when it came time to film. You see, Courtney has a favorite song that she completely *ROCKS OUT* to when it comes on in the car... "So What" by Pink!! You know... "so what, I'm still a ROCK STAR, I got my ROCK MOVES, and I don't need you..." She sits there grinning from ear to ear and head banging!! It's the cutest thing ever. Of course she got it from her big brother - she wants to do everything like her big brother! He loves that song too - we can't go anywhere anymore without him whining "I wanna hear the rock song!!". As a matter of fact, I can tell you that it takes precisely 4.5 times in a row listening to that song to get from our house to Carter's preschool...! So, I took my little video camera to the car. I put in the Pink CD. I pointed the camera at Courtney. And she just sat there, no smile, no movement, nothing. *sigh* So, you'll just have to believe me when I say that's what inspired this card. :-) The card of course uses Wee Tees, and the "U ROCK" is from Little Tees. And now I can't get that Pink song out of my head. :-) And, it only just now occurred to me that it would have made much more sense to make a card inspired by Pink actually be pink. Oops. :-)
Make sure and visit Melanie's blog today, she is featuring another one of my Wee Tees cards. And this particular one cracked me up as I was making it... I hope you like it... :-)
You may have already seen this card when Melanie posted it last week on her blog, as well as a little interview with me. But, I loved how this one turned out so I just had to post it here too!
This of course is using some cutie patootie little boy images from the Gina K Wee Tees set which Melanie designed. The sketch for this card was one of Jen's - it worked perfectly with these little images! Each image is cut out and raised up with dimensional tape, just to give the card a little more somethin'-somethin'. I used little letter beads strung on embroidery floss to spell out the sentiment. I for one am glad that Melanie has boys - I love finding stamp sets with really cute boy images!!
Make sure and tune in tomorrow - Melanie will be featuring another one of my cards, and I'll have a new one here as well! Yay!
